Orlando man given George Zimmerman’s cellphone number, gets death threats

Talk about an unlucky draw.

An Orlando, Fla., man says his life has been turned upside down since May 7, when T-Mobile reportedly assigned him the cellphone number formerly used by accused Florida murderer George Zimmerman.

It's the same mobile number Zimmerman gave police dispatchers during the notorious 911 call moments before he shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin three months ago.

The 911 call (with Zimmerman heard spelling out the number) has since been widely circulated by the media and on the Internet.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Junior Alexander Guy, the man who inherited Zimmerman's old number, immediately started getting weird calls at all hours of the night.

"You murderer!"

"You deserve to die!"

Guy, who works at an Orlando wastewater plant, told the newspaper he got an estimated 70 threatening calls. He and his mother were forced to move out of their home.

"I was not only afraid for my life, I was afraid for my mother's," said Guy, a 49-year-old man who the newspaper reported has himself served prison time for drug trafficking.

By the ninth day, Guy said he'd had enough and turned the phone over to an attorney. His lawyer has reportedly been unsuccessful in seeking damages for his client, but T-Mobile did credit Guy's account and waived the early termination fee.

In a sane world all those making threats would be tracked down and jailed post haste. Aren't numbers supposed to be shelved for a year before being reassigned anyway? I know one phone provider I'll never deal with...

Did Spike Lee release his phone number? If so, he got it wrong just like he did with the address.

Yes, this is just a bad thing for this person.

On the other hand, this person is just another of many ne’r do-well criminals who now work in public office, can’t cope with something as simple as “hey, you assigned me a bad phone number, switch it”, and instead “suffers” for days on end, moves out of his house even though there’s no reason anybody would know who he is or where he lives, and now wants to sue the company because he suffered due to his idiocy.

Apparently, there are a lot more people like this than one might imagine.

There are those of us prepared to deal with this type of harassment.

“Well, now that I have YOUR number, you better watch YOUR @$$!”

This would be a golden opportunity for the law to use some technology and trace every call to that number and arrest
every single one that contained a threat.

With the proper baiting technique we could clean up all the moronic thugs.

Spelling a phone number must take a while....s-i-x, o-n-e...
Stupid “reporters”.

Yeah you can tell the reporter isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer just from the extraneous comma in the title. I so wanted to correct that but titles need to be posted as written here.

Obama: “If I had a brother...” Actually, that should probably read “Junior looks just like my brothers in Kenya”.

Yeh -- in this case the person against whom the death threats are being made is falsely accused, bugged, lied about, denied bail, and jailed post haste.

Mmmm...K

Thought numbers were sent purgatory for six months before being recycled.

This number in particular should have hit the vanity bin for holds of up to 18 months.

Just like the Jenny, Jenny #

I’d like to ask Guy if he believes that Zimmerman will get a fair trial, or if he believes that witnesses may have changed their original stories because of threats...

Regarding #3; There is a certain segment of our population that has been trained by our lawyers to search for “A Case” as the easiest way to wealth. I knew one in Houston who carried a neck brace in his car just on the chance he would get into a fender bender.

What is ironic is that the violence of his “culture” probably contributed to Trayvon’s decision to attack Zimmerman, which ultimately caused Trayvon’s death. The people who stupidly think they are supporting Trayvon and other kids like him are still engaging in the same culture of death that claimed Trayvon’s life.

There’s no cure for stupid.

These kids (and the adults who make excuses for them) need to learn one thing fast: You live by the sword, you die by the sword.

A Jew in the 1939s and early 40s, going before a “People’s Judge” would have gotten a fairer trial than Zimmerman is going to get. After that Holder’s goons will probably take a crack at him.

Roland Freisler would have worked very well under Holder.

Why isn’t somebody already taking a crack at Holder himself? Congress is made up of wimps, but that doesn’t mean that people like the family of Brian Terry can’t kick him in the balls legally speaking. Maybe best to wait until he’s out of office - preferably impeached - so we the (screwed) people don’t have to pay for his legal defense too...

He may be an idiot but I do think he deserves some compensation for being assigned that number. He and his mother moving out sounds like advice from his lawyer to build a case for damages.
