Mitt Romney has named former Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt to lead his presidential transition team should he win November's general election, the Republican presidential candidate's campaign confirmed Monday.
-SNIP-
Leavitt, Romney's pick to lead a potential transition, was elected governor of Utah in 1992, and went on to hold the office for ten years. He was governor of the state when Romney headed the Salt Lake City Olympic Organizing Committee in 2002.
In 2003 Leavitt was nominated by President George W. Bush to serve as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. He later became Bush's Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Why is this an issue, but the TLC show “Sister Wives” is not? Also, all polygamy charges vs. those freaks have just been dropped.

Ooooo! Got a Danite in your pocket?
Nobody knows the answer to that except for Romney and Leavitt. I don't know anything about this Leavitt but Romney is a known flip flopping, lying, liberal.
Lie detectors aren't positively 100% accurate but put them both on one and we might learn a little more.
DUH! The polygamy charges were in UTAH! Ya know, the state where the gov. Leavitt said it may be a "freedom of religion" matter.
Thank you for that report and links.
The focus indeed must stay on those bent on destroying America as founded.
As you put it, “tearing America down brick by brick”, because they despise our exceptional nation, but frighteningly, have been given power by it.
That MUST end.
So, any exposure of the idiocy of mormon belief and the likelihood that Romney will pack the federal government with more mormons must be, in your opinion censored?
You will likely see this Law of Consecration brought up time and again by the Obama campaign...an oath taken by Romney numerous times in the mormon temple..."You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the Law of Consecration as contained in the Doctrine and Covenants, in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the Kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion".

Mormons covenant to put the church before ALL things.
In no way did my comment to your thread censor you. Is everyone your enemy?
" They're trying to get the Utah law changed to permit polygamy. Also...

Brigham Young said that the “monogamic system” had been a “fruitful source of prostitution and whoredom throughout all the Christian monogamic cities of the Old and New World...” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 11, p. 128).
Apostle George A. Smith boasted:
We breathe the free air, we have the best looking men and handsomest women, and if they envy us our position, well they may, for they are a poor, narrow minded, pinch-backed race of men, who chain themselves down to the law of monogamy and live all their days under the dominion of one wife. They ought to be ashamed of such conduct, and the still fouler channel which flows from their practices ... (Deseret News, April 16, 1856).
The following appeared in the church’s Millennial Star:”... the one-wife system not only degenerates the human family, both physically and intellectually, but it is entirely incompatible with philosophical notions of immortality; it is a lure to temptation, and has always proved a curse to a people” (vol. 15, p. 227).
George Q. Cannon claimed that the children of polygamists, “besides being equally as bright and brighter intellectually, are much more healthy and strong (Journal of Discourses, vol. 13, p. 207).
In a sermon reported in the LDS Church’s Deseret News, August 6, 1862, Brigham Young stated:
Monogamy, or restrictions by law to one wife, is no part of the economy of heaven among men. Such a system was commenced by the founders of the Roman empire. . . . Rome became the mistress of the world, and introduced this order of monogamy wherever her sway was acknowledged. Thus this monogamic order of marriage, so esteemed by modern Christians as a holy sacrament and divine institution, is nothing but a system established by a set of robbers. . . .
Why do we believe in and practice polygamy? Because the Lord introduced it to his servants in a revelation given to Joseph Smith, and the Lord’s servants have always practiced it. “And is that religion popular in heaven?” It is the only popular religion there . . . (Deseret News, August 6, 1862)
In the case of a man marrying a wife in the everlasting covenant who dies while he continues in the flesh and marries another by the same divine law, each wife will come forth in her order and enter with him into his glory (”Mormon” Doctrine Plain and Simple, or Leaves from the Tree of Life, by Charles W. Penrose, p.66, 1897, Salt Lake City, UT).
Harold B. Lee, the eleventh president of the church, also remarried after his wife’s death and was sealed to another woman and was looking forward to a polygamous relationship in heaven. He, in fact, wrote a poem in which he reflected that his second wife, Joan, would join his first wife, Fern, as his eternal wives:
My lovely Joan was sent to me: So Joan joins Fern
That three might be, more fitted for eternity.
“O Heavenly Father, my thanks to thee”
(Deseret News 1974 Church Almanac, p. 17)
After being widowed, Apostle Dallin Oaks remarried in the temple and believes he will be married eternally to both women. In 2002 he commented on his second sealing:
When I was 66, my wife June died of cancer. Two years latera year and a half agoI married [in the LDS temple] Kristen McMain, the eternal companion who now stands at my side. (Dallin Oaks, “Timing,” speech delivered at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, January 29, 2002,
Sorry...I don’t know why it takes two tries for me to get hot links into posts.
The cold hard fact is that the next POTUS will either be a Marxist/Commie/Socialist or a Mormon. I WILL TAKE THE MORMON ANYDAY OVER THE MUSLIM.
Strange days we live in.
The Republican party was founded to fight against Mormon polygamy and Southern Black slavery.
Now the Mormons are mostly Republicans and the blacks are all Democrats.
Leavitt has to be fired.
When you make a statement like "The focus needs to stay on the Left and their efforts to breakdown this country, brick by brick." in a thread where the focus is on Romney, it tends to suggest that any deviance from the party line (ie. ABO) should go away.
I was quite surprised to see that comment from you, having admired your previous stand for Gov. Perry. There were certainly many posts made suggesting that "everyone was YOUR enemy"..or have you forgotten?
My focus is on mormonism and the ignorance of the voting populace of its history and ongoing goal to "govern the world".
I've forgotten nothing. Including all the supporters of Rick Perry who posted to threads on FR. "everyone was not mine" or Perry's "enemy." Your insistence to provoke by twisting history, speaks to your temperament, not mine.
I don't think you are going to be successful in changing the "focus" of this thread.
Your insistence to provoke by twisting history, speaks to your temperament, not mine.
Back atcha.
Moving on now...
So when will Huntsman be appointed to something or other?
Since I won’t be voting for Romney or Obama or the GOPE who gave us these two, but down ticket only, I will say that Romney is a Bishop of the Mormon sect, but a nominal Mormon who flip flops on his rudderless religion as easily as he does on the Republican platform, which is meaningless, but, you get my drift here. He is an empty suit on religious issues, except for being the first to box in Catholic institutions in MA on their religious liberty, which was apparent in forcing Romneycare there, the template used by Barack Obama.
The worst of Obamacare/Romneycare is before the Supreme Court today but with Obama’s name on it—that is, religious liberty as affected by the individual mandate, which forces the religious self insurers to provide for abortion regardless of the tenents of their faith.
Doubt Romney nor Leavitt actually give a large rip about polygamy either way. It is simply the proclivity of Romney and Obama to support Marxist redistribution of wealth in their mutual care packages (RomneyObamaCare) and the ease with which they are both willing to forcefully compel a religion to dump their faith and PAY for abortion in the name of fiscal stewardship. Yuk.
Ron Paul has a problem of clarification as to what all he is willing to ignore in the name of libertarian purity. Does he give a rip about social issues (pot) or religious issues (marriage as a sacrament) which are not expressly defined and addressed in the Constitution as if it were a dang dictionary?
This is what decay looks like. Two empty suits are propped up by two parties who have obviously melled into one, and a morally and religiously confused and divided populace quite willing to comply with anything, in exchange for just a little Peace and Safety. The price, of course, will be liberty. But we know that already.
Gad.
I've seen suggestions that Mitt will appoint Huntsman SOS because of his China experience.
