The body of a missing convicted murderer was dragged out of a car by a bear that ate part of it and buried the rest, authorities in Canada said Saturday, according to reports.
Rory Nelson Wagner, 53, was out on parole from a murder sentence when he vanished from Kamloops, British Columbia, on May 23, CTV reported.
The black bear was later euthanized by conservation officers, CTV said late Saturday.

"Six years later a real bear brought a twist to the Smokey story. In May 1950, forest fires swept New Mexico's Capitan Mountains. Firefighting crews rescued a little black bear cub clinging to a tree. They called the burned baby "Hotfoot Teddy," but he was soon renamed "Smokey Bear" after the character in the poster.
Rest in Peace, Smokey
The real Smokey Bear died in 1976. His remains were sent home to Capitan, New Mexico, where they are buried in the Smokey Bear Historical Park."

I like this comment:
“Why would they euthanize him? the bear is a hero! they should’ve tranquilized him and moved him to the best forest in the US with the prettiest lady bears, and he could live out the rest of his bear days as the awesome stud he is.”

He probably killed himself and the bear just scavenged on the corpse. So they have to kill the bear, of course. Couldn’t be bothered to just move it to another area.

Some days you eat the bear, some days, the bear eats you.

The old theory is that once an animal eats human flesh, it becomes addicted to it and will start to hunt humans exclusively. That’s why they kill any animal that eats human flesh.

Sometimes you eat the bear...and sometimes the bear eats you.

I will never get used to statements like “paroled convicted murderers”.
Once you truly viciously kill someone, in cold blood, not self defense, you should NEVER see the free light of day again. You denied that to another person, for you to be let go is a betrayal of that person.
The idea that someone could kill one of my loved ones and then be free to wander around a park - I think I would be angrier with the government than the murderer, even.
