Man Arrested at Rally
Posted at June 1, 2012 at 3:00 pm by milwaukeepolice
Milwaukee Police cited a protester at a rally at which former President Bill Clinton appeared this morning at Pere Marquette Park.
David B. Willoughby, 39, of West Allis, was issued a municipal citation for disorderly conduct when he refused to comply with Milwaukee Police orders to step back from his location where he was waving a large wooden pole with a sign mounted on it. Given his proximity to Mayor Tom Barrett and other dignitaries, officers believed he posed a threat with the large sign and was asked to move back. He was told he was allowed to protest, and the officer understood his right to protest, but he needed to move from the line where the Mayor and other dignitaries were standing. He failed to comply. He was arrested, issued a citation and was released.
Before the incident, one of the rally organizers approached the police officer asking that Willoughby be removed as he said the protester was an unwelcome guest. The officer informed the organizer that Pere Marquette is a public park and that Willoughby had the right to be present there. Additionally, the same officer ordered a man who was shouting at Willoughby before the arrest in an extremely agitated fashion, to calm down and to walk away. The man did.
he’s doing a good job. If your liberty is impeded, you are by definition arrested. Damn police state.
Clear violation of this guy’s rights, to protect the Unions from a simple protest. But seeing that most police are in a union, there is a clear motive for this violation. Guy needs to sue, and hard. Not all wars for America’s freedom are fought in battlefields.
Title isn’t confusing, it’s false. This was an ANTI-Walker rally.
He was handcuffed, his property taken along with mug shots and he was imprisoned with his handcuffs on. The Police say he was not arrested.
Ok, then he was mugged, robbed and kidnapped and a lot of police officers need to go to prison.
Can’t have it both ways guys...
Congress just voted to make protests a crime at any event at which Secret Service protected persons are present. Not only will you not “get rich,” you probably will be a felon.
This bad law needs to be repealed ASAP.
Things are really going to get messy.
Dave, you need to file a civil action under 42 USC 1983 for false arrest, violation of a protect constitutional right to “due process of law”, and unlawful imprisonment, to start with.
Then, in order to prevent the tax payers from paying for these socialist who arrested you, file a civil action against them in their personal capacity, hit them in their personnel back pockets!
Americans need to draw a line in the sand and say NO MORE!
That fat load of crap Sgt should be #1 on the defendent list, along with that equally fat load of crap officer Carter when the Marine sues the department and the city for everything they have.
Confusing title or no, I’m on Dave’s side.

Title at link (now) reads “Marine Arrested At Anti Walker Democrat Rally”.
He is, what we would call, a second class citizen. Persecuted for his beliefs.
The video clearly shows the first words out of the cops mouth are “You’re going to get your ass kicked”.
I think the cop meant by the crowd, which shows the cops know exactly that union thugs are violent sociopaths.
The good Gov. Walker needs to call a few officers and their Chiefs in for a royal ass chewing about the purpose of the constitution. That arresting officer is a trouble maker, and obviously protesting the governor.

He was taken into custody, and since he wasn’t being charged, it sounds as if he was essentially kidnapped.
If there was no arrestable offense, it seems the only thing this guy could be tasked with is leaving for being disruptive.
To take him into custody, incarcerate him... hmmm.
