JERUSALEM, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Geneticists at an Israeli hospital said they have found a unique Jewish genetic mutation among an American Indian tribe, indicating that they are descendants of Jews expelled from Spain 600 years ago, local Haaretz daily reported on Wednesday.
The findings of the study, conducted at the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv, show that a group of Indians from the State of Colorado bear the so-called "Ashkenazi mutation," on the BRCA1 gene - a marker unique to European Jews.
While such so-called "secret Jews," or "Anusim" in Hebrew, whose families assimilated into various north and south American cultures hundreds of years ago after journeying to the New World are more and more known, this is the first time an Indian tribe has shown the gene.
Those Jews were believed to be descendants of a Jewish man who left Europe and settled in south America about 600 years ago - likely among the hundreds of thousands of Jews expelled by Spain in 1492, and possibly among those who sailed with Christopher Columbus, according to the report, which appears in the European Journal of Human Genetics.
“The Jews expelled from Spain were Sephardim, the Ashkenasi lived in Russia and Eastern Europe.”
There is little or no genetic difference between the three major groups in the Diaspora, Ashkenazim, Mizrahim, or Sephardim.
Indeed, the cohenim of all the groups share a common male ancestor.
“Furthermore, the Askenasi were originally Khazars who converted to Judaism circa 1200 A.D. - no connection to Israel.”
That’s been thoroughly refuted and a lie only repeated by Nazis and arabs.
“Have you ever looked at the Russian/Eastern European Jews....theyre not Semites.”
Sadly, the closest genetic relatives of Ashkenazi Jews, other than Sephardic and Mizrahim Jews, are, alas, arabs in Judea (aka “Palestinians”).
“Actually, one of the most famous Jewish writers of the 20th century wrote a book expounding this theory.”
Yes, and he repudiated his own theory upon repeated genetic studies and better historical records.
Not to be insensitive, but 6 million of them were murdered. It is reasonable to assume that those who were more caapabale of avoiding the Nazis were more affluent and likely more intelligent (again sounds harsh but probably true). If you think of a Nazi takeover of a town, who will be able to escape, the banker or the janitor?
Does this mean that Elizabeth Warren is also a descendant of one of the Lost Tribes of Israel?
That would mean Harvard got a “twofer.”
The exciting field of Modern DNA science is remarkably showing that Jews are Jews by DNA going all the way back to Old Testament Biblical times. The anti-Semitic propaganda claim of later Khazar ancestry for Ashkenazi Jews, which even some Jews had begun to believe, is proven bogus. A set of Jewish DNA markers are linking directly back to the time of Abraham.

Both the bankers AND the janitors, as well as the teachers and the bakers and the shoemakers and the tailors and the blacksmiths and the cantors and the rabbis and the butchers and the textile workers and the printers and the factory owners and the water carriers and the infants and the toddlers and their parents and their grandparents and their greatgrandparents were murdered. No one was more likely than anyone else to extricate himself from the mass hell that the Nazis set in motion. You seem to think that survival during the Holocaust was a function of intelligence and ingenuity. Your comment is glib and woefully uninformed. You need to read much more about the Holocaust.
Mix in some plagiarized Masonic rituals and BOOM! You've got a religion. Add some asinine "White Horse prophesy" and you have a presidential candidate.
Almost all I know about Judaism comes from having read the O.T. dozens of times. We have a president who claims to be an expert on Judaism and there's no way of proving it but I'd be willing to bet that he has never read a single chapter of the O.T. in its entirety. The sum total of his "knowledge" comes from a muslim perspective.
I appreciate these threads where I can learn more.
You’re right. I had forgotten about the Polish kings opening their lands to Jewish settlement.
I don’t get what fists have to do with this.
"And you'd think that one of them would remember to call his mother once in a while...."
Umm, how could there be a traditional Hebrew name for Germany when there was no such place as Germany when there were traditional Hebrews - i.e., before the destruction of the temple.
ROFLMAO. God, that's funny.
There was a story as well claiming that Columbia’s himself may have been Jewish.
I am sorry to sound "glib" but I do not believe that. I know for a fact that Jews from all levels of society were captured and killed and a host of other horrific crimes. However, I cannot believe for one second that 50% of those killed were below average intelligence and 50% were above. It simply defies logic and reason as distasteful as it may be to discuss.
In addition, survival during the holocaust was certainly less dependent upon affluence as escape prior to the holocaust would have been. If even 2 in 10 bankers managed to pay their way out before the killings commenced, they would have doubled the rate for other survivors. When 90% of a population is killed even a tiny difference can make a large percentage change.
>> Harvard got a twofer. <<
Looks like a “three-fer” to me:
1. Female
2. Cherokee
3. Jewish
Too bad for Harvard that she doesn’t have a serious physical handicap and that she hasn’t declared herself to be a lesbo. The two latter categories could make her a FIVE-fer!
