Romney Secures 88 Texas Delegates, Clinches Nomination
New York Times ^ | 29 May 2012 | AP Projection

Posted on 05/29/2012 6:33:59 PM PDT by Vigilanteman

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has now secured at least 88 of the 155 delegates at stake in the Texas Primary, bringing his secured delegate total to 1174, 30 more than necessary to win the majority of the delegated needed for the GOP nomination.

With 4% of Texas precincts now reporting, Romney has consistently maintained or increased a 60 point lead over his nearest competitor, Congressman Ron Paul.

In the contested race for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, David Dewhurst is holding a 48% to 31% lead over his nearest rival Ted Cruz in a nine person contest.

Right now it’s 45-33 with 60% of the vote in. I think that’s about what it was was expected to be. I was thinking maybe a bit closer than that.

Conservatives in Texas have their work cut out for them.

Fool? Since I refuse to support Romney due to his record and my values I REJECT the title FOOL. Only a FOOL would support a socialist.

It’s not my fault the GOPe selected someone form the left side of the isle and tossed him on the base thinking we’d all jump in line and vote for him.

If you want to vote for Romney you go right ahead. How you could support him I don’t know. Just because he is anybody but Obama is a rather weak argument because Romney’s record screams “I’m just like Obama!”.

Don’t give me that lame line everyone else gives “if you don’t vote for mittens your voting for Obama”.. No. If I don’t vote for Obama or Mittens I am voting either for someone else or NO ONE!

It’s over. Take your ball and go home.

Kiss my grits, you Loyalist coward.

For me, standing up to the tyranny that now besets us, is more than just lofty rhetoric. I can trace my direct lineage back to an American who fired at the British in anger during the Revolutionary War.

Since his time, many of my fathers have shed blood, or have sacrificed greatly, to stand guard over this fragile republic. What sort of son would I be if I meekly accepted the left’s terms of surrender in my day? I’m not standing in harm’s way with a rifle in my hand, like so many of them did.

No - I’m armed with only a ballot, by whose markings my fathers shall judge me. I would not even think of sullying their honor by giving my solemn vote to a man who has essentially gone into abject Treason against the very things my forefathers fought and bled for.

May your chains set lightly upon you...

Cruz did have a lot of publicity at least in my circles, over Dewhurst, whom I believe probably expected more of a coronation and therefore perhaps wasn’t compelled to spend on exposure until late.

Perhaps Sarah’s endorsement flushed Dewhurst out after all?

I held the opinion her endorsement was late and rather a wash at any rate. But, admittedly we discovered Dewhurst was in the race after that, and he did become pouty about her endorsement and Cruz thrilled, so what do I know?

Maybe, but BHO gone means all the "Csars" gone, Holder gone and so on, which is important as well.

Yes.. maybe they will be gone. Romney hasn’t named names on who he’d pick. Your running under the assumption he’d select better..

Problem is, Leppert is a bit like dewhurst.
The good thing is that most of the people that voted Leppert were voting against Dewhurst and dont seem to realize that Leppert raised taxes in Dallas.

THAT is exactly my story!

Our forefathers were not that into capitulation, preferred over rebellion. To waste what they gave to me and trade that costly gift of liberty off in exchange for PEACE at any price is beyond my capability.

Rebellion is HARD and it’s scary, but if not I, then whom?

I’m not usually for a third party, but I think we need to indeed keep our options open. There are plenty of opportunity out there in the disasters to come about. Republican ineffectives is going to shove them on the sidelines.

If a third party is like a camel, it will be indeed easier for it to squeeze through the eye of a political needle (small or so called single issue candidate), than for the corrupt to part with their little day to day toys for the sake of greatness. Penny pinchers often lose a bank for a penny, and that is the legacy we are seeing in America.

If Obama can scream “Yes We can”, then so can we.

I cant believe Ralph Hall got 57% The guy is 90 years old.

Voting reliably conservative in Congress will do that, when you're representing a conservative part of the country.

Ralph Hall is one of the few exceptions to the DC rule, which is why he's consistently been returned to Congress, election after election. He's one of the few honest reps in the US House.

The GOP has betrayed Conservatives by nominating Romney. After abandoning Conservative values and losing elections in 2006 and 2008, they told us they were listening and had learned. We gave them another chance in 2010, and now they push Romney? How quickly they forget. Conservatives are patriots and we must vote for conservatives in the House and Senate to stop Obama's agenda. Then, we must vote against progressive Romney such that we can nominate a Conservative in 2016 and get the progressives out of power as soon as possible. Otherwise our next opportunity for a Conservative candidate would be 2024-2028. The march to socialism would be complete.
