Just six months after issuing its latest warning about chicken jerky dog treats made in China, the Food and Drug Administration confirms it has logged more than 900 complaints from pet owners who say their dogs either were sickened or died after eating the treats.
The number of complaints has nearly doubled since the story was first reported by ABC News in March. The FDA says its investigation is ongoing and that it continues to test samples of the popular treats, which dog owners across the country say have caused kidney failure in their pets, resulting in severe illness or death.
Consumers have largely blamed two brands for the reported illnesses. Waggin' Train and Canyon Creek Ranch, both produced by Nestle Purina and made in China

You might consider Flint River dog food. They are a bit higher in cost, but they will pay shipping on anything you order. I feed my pups the dry water formula. It's made here in the US and is human food grade rated so you can eat it yourself.
Thanks! Closest place is really, really far away though! 0.56 miles. Right around the corner. Will check them out tomorrow. See if I can get a small bag, just to see if they’ll eat it! Thanks again;
Best,
Bogie
Thank you for the info!
That’s the way I look at it. It will be much more nutritious, too. Imho.
You're welcome too. :-)
If Hu will eat it, that would be great. She’s a compulsive groomer, and pukes up hairballs constantly. Very hard on her system. She’s only 6 pounds. If Mao keeps eating other stuff, the money hit might not be too bad.
“....still on the shelves...”
We wouldn’t want to offend the Chinese by removing them, would we?
My Rags has hairball issues. She's just a tiny thing too.
I hope that it works for you. texgal listed another brand in post 61.
These are great for feeding your dogs if they need to gain weight and are also good when fed as a supplement if your dog does not need to gain weight.

I don't have a dog, 3 kitties, but people reading the thread have pups.
I’ll check for that brand too. Maybe they make catfood.
I went to PetSmarts website and read reviews for Blue Buffalo. Wow! Not one bad review.
Thing to remember is that dog & cat food is supposed to contain vitamins & minerals necessary for good health so while you can make food for your babies, remember they either need supplements added or supplementation with a good quality food.
Yup! Good nutrition and safe, homemade treats. :-)
Nestles was also involved in the taste testing, using embryos. Don’t know if they are still in on that.
Hi yankee...haha...You buy poon jab doggy yum yums...good for yankee...haha....make you proud...make you happy...make economy big fun....You go shop now....bye bye yankee!
I went to the “boutique” pet food place that’s just around the corner, and picked up some samples

Thanks for the link. Seems that only Blue Buffalo can cat food was recalled and only one flavor.
Wasn’t the recall in ‘07?
Seems to me it was about then. Wasn’t that the massive recall that was tracked back to bad ingredients purchased from China?
