Rawles: It Would Be Impossible To Disarm The People Of This Country
Mac Slavo
May 21st, 2012
How likely is it that we will actually experience a disaster that brings down our national power grid?
Will the government seize all guns in the United States?
If Continuity of Government response plans are initiated, will they be able to effectively lock down every major city and the country as a whole under a martial law scenario?
Is an economic collapse in our near future?
These and a host of other critical topics are covered in the latest interview from SGT Report with Survival Blog editor James Rawles.
Rawles on Gun Confiscation:
I think it would be impossible to disarm the people of this country. Along with Yemen were the most heavily armed society on the planet. It would be absolutely impossible to disarm the citizenry.
There might be an attempt to do it incremently over the course of generations. I think thats the only way that would happen.
There are so many guns being produced each year a couple of million guns each year its just mathematically impossible, if not socially impossible, to even envision the logisitics of trying to disarm the American citizenry. It just cant happen. Theres too many guns in circulation and theyre essentially the final guarantor of our freedom.
The next phase of the financial collapse:
I think that given the financial situation globally if you look at whats happening in Italy, Spain, Greece and the most recent election in France were very likely to see a lot of financial turmoil in the coming months.
A lot of it will spill over into American markets. I think there is likely to be another global credit crisis like in 2008, and it could get very, very ugly very quickly.
I think its prudent for people to prepare. I think that if you look at it in terms of the clock face approach, were probably just minutes from midnight in terms of where we should be in terms of our preparedness.
Rawles on the probability of a grid-down worst-case scenario collapse:
In all of my writings Ive stressed that the North American power grids and therere three of them are the real lynch pin of our modern technological society.
If the grids go down, all bets are off.
Its important that people plan for the worst case. The worst case would, of course, be grid down. The chances of that happening are fairly small, but if youre prepared for the worst case you can take anything lesser in stride.
In terms of the power grid, if they knock that leg out from underneath society they can create a cascade of events that will be completely beyond their control.
Martial law is not going to restore order if the power grid goes down and does not come back up within a few days.
On martial law:
I think the whole rhetoric about martial law tends to be overblown, because the logistics of implementing martial law would be daunting. Even in the United States, where we have a fairly sophisticated military, the numbers just dont add up for martial law being instituted for more than just a very short period of time.
We have a military thats primarily deployed overseas right now. The military here in the United States, active and reserve components, dont even have enough vehicles for training much less live operations. The majority of the rolling stock for the US military right now is in places like Bosnia and Afghanistan.
How do you institute martial law if you cant even get troops from point A to point B?
Obsessing on martial is probably not productive, but we do need to be on guard to guard our liberty, and we do need to speak up when there are abuses of our Constitutional Rights, especially the first amendment.

“Those who made clear it would be bullets first remained armed.”
I remember stories of at least one guy in a boat being disarmed at gun point.
True enough.
But many (most?) of us learned our skills out of doors and often with the target firing back.
In years to come I am guessing two of the main threats to the republic would be:
The sheeple that support politicians like Obama and his anti-constitutional regime.A military that eventually becomes another welfare program and is staffed heavily with Affirmative Action types.
Really civilized of you to curse at me. Have a nice life.
Then scratch out the “Oh fer $^#$%#” etc. and replace with “Oh fer cryin’ out loud”.

Yes indeed, I also think that a sub-rosa paramilitary police will be a major threat. How they would operate would be to cause a major act of terrorism and then show up as the very people who are there to investigate and protect the citizens.
A very devastating type of disinformation and cognitive dissonance among the population.
bttt
As I differentiated: he gave it up.
There were bodyguards who didn’t, even at gunpoint. They were not disarmed.
Have you heard about the Russian troops training in Denver?
To some, “from my cold dead hands” isn’t just trash talk.
“Hey I play the bagpipes (badly!)”
Is there any other way?
Yep that would have worked so well.
” To some, from my cold dead hands isnt just trash talk. “
‘Your proposal - is acceptable..’
(”The Bug” - “Men in Black”)
It did.
Good God, if you want to see something that will make you wet your pants, check out some of the YouTube videos of these Airsoft kids.
I've seen videos of 14 year old girls shoot like it's hardwired into their DNA.
A little weapons familiarization and these kids would be able to go head to head with any combat unit in the world.

And just think, at that age there is little to no self-realization that death to themselves is possible. In other words the “I’m immortal” syndrome.
Now I must admit when I used to play paintball that I managed to instill that quality into my own kids when they foolishly challenged me by playing on the opposite side.
Ah yes, age and treachery won out over youth and enthusiasm more than one time.
And there are a LOT of us, on that last.
Denver and Nawth JawJaw...
With all due respect to Mr. Rawles, how many other things have happened in the past 3-4 years that we said could never happen? With the MSM firmly on the side of the progressives/socialists, a massive PR campaign could be launched that would put the anti-tobacco campaign to shame and it would be neighbor turning against neighbor, all in the name of being a “good citizen.”
Remember those speed cameras that were all the rage in Phoenix a while back? People who were simply EMPLOYEES of the camera company were more than willing to threaten and intimidate motorists in spite of not having any authority to do so. There are plenty of people just like that who would gladly snitch on their family members or relatives for...oh....I don’t know. A tax break from the IRS, maybe? (Don’t forget who just hired thousands of new IRS agents and the hundreds of shotguns that were purchased by the IRS.)
Meh. I met a Lithuanian with six foot legs once (or so she claimed), while I was in Michigan........on line.......I can prove it.......
