The text editor of the 1991 literary agency booklet that described Barack Obama as “born in Kenya” said Thursday the line in question was “nothing more than a fact checking error.”
Miriam Goderich issued a statement to the Political Wire saying the future president never suggested “in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii”:
“You’re undoubtedly aware of the brouhaha stirred up by Breitbart about the erroneous statement in a client list Acton & Dystel published in 1991 (for circulation within the publishing industry only) that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me — an agency assistant at the time. There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more.”

So my literary agent puts out a promotional booklet on me describing me as being born in some foreign African country when I was actually born in the USA. But I don't even bother to correct it. Why worry about some trivial detail! I just want to sell my books and run for president someday...
See how ridiculous that sounds? That Obama never apparently corrected this "mistake" back in 1991 speaks volumes.
A simple answer: Ms Miriam was racist then, but is not now!
Absolute and utter BS. Every literary agency checks and rechecks basic facts about its authors. If they made a mistake on the first run, it gets corrected on the second. It doesn’t lay around for 17 years without being checked or revised.

The first card they pulled out of the hat was Kyrgyzstan, but since no one knew if it was spelled correctly, they went with Kenya.

A reader from the UK on the ‘Mail Online’ made this interesting comment:
“Well,this means that according to the British Nationality Act of 1948,he was a subject of the Crown at the time...and probably still is for that matter....isn’t there somebody in the Crown Prosecution Service who is sharp enough to find some way to extradite him to London to stand trial in Queen’s Bench for conspiracy to defraud the entire bloody world or something?”

16 years is a long time to let a lie like that go on. So in 1991, it was considered a good marketing scheme to claim to be from Kenya in order to sell an autobiography of a young black man?
