You spoke too soon, Rand Paul. It sounds like the President's views on marriage just got even gayer.
Somewhat buried in CNN's story on Barack Obama's fundraiser in New York is this little tidbit about his administration's plans for marriage equality
He also outlined goals he hopes to accomplish under a second term, including the repeal of the Defense Of Marriage Act, which the administration has already stopped defending.
This is the first time Obama has said that he wil actively work to repeal the law.
At the fundraiser, hosted by openly gay pop star Ricky Martin, Obama called same-sex marriage the "right thing to do." He also said that contrary to what many rightwing pundits have alleged, marriage equality will help families.
Or is he clearing the way for someone else?
Isn't it logically impossible to
(a) support the right of states to either endorse or deny "gay" marriage within their own jurisdictions, but then to
(b) make it un-Constitutional for states to do this very thing?
Wouldn't declaring DOMA to be un-Constitutional (as Obama has done) effectively deny states their right to determine this issue for themselves?
The Economic Case for Same-Sex Marriage
Take a read of this poorly thought out treatise on the history of marriage and why it's time to switch. What's the end game here? Does this kind of bad thinking pass with the next generation? What are we missing?
“...Pure evil...”
Yep! His purpose was to come to “steal, kill and destroy” just like his big daddy, Satan. He’s done a pretty good job of it too, I might add, but it ain’t over till it’s over. And we know One that’s greater.
Or not vote at all....which amounts to the same thing.
Some states permit first cousins to marry; others do not. I believe that even states which do not allow first cousins to marry would expect first cousins who took up residence after getting married elsewhere to file as a married couple.
On the other hand, there is something I find curious about "civil union" legislation--if it is supposedly about allowing people who are not eligible to be married to nonetheless receive non-sexual benefits like expedited probate, property divisions, hospital visitation, etc. why do civil-union laws specifically restrict it to unrelated persons? If it "isn't about sex", why shouldn't a brother and sister who share one roof (but not one bed) be able to designate that if one dies the other simply acts as the surviving household member as would be done with a spouse?
Beliefs and how you live accordingly ARE the most important things — especially at the moment of your death, the particular judgment, when you meet Christ.
I’ll keep my beliefs, thank you, and according to Jim Robinson, I believe I can also post them/speak out.
I’m holding my nose as I type with one hand:
DAMMIT, NOW I’M GONNA HAVE TO VOTE FOR MITTENS!
Reid has empathy and a moral compass too. So does Obama. Even Romney.
But they all three still allow/allowed or advocate/advocated for the wholesale wanton murder of the unborn, homosexual “rights,” gun-control, liberal judges, shamnesty, global warming, the FED, government control over the economy, crony capitalism, class warfare, TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending, socialist healthcare, etc. In short, they are all usurpers and destructive agents of the constitution we are sworn to uphold, so help me GOD!!
Yes. He is a loathsome creature. I truly want him gone...seeing the Obama’s getting on Marine One and flying to AF1 to depart Washington will be a joyful day. Begone foul and unclean demon, etc etc etc.
“...on The View, Obama dodge a question about repealing DOMA:”
No guts at all. He’ll ‘dodge’ the question on a tv show that has a large viewing audience, then go to a gay fundraiser and tell them that in a 2nd Administration he would work to repeal it.
Since when doe the president repeal laws??
I must have missed that part of the Constitution
That would have been better phrased "I think he just gets screwed in the end".
I know a good many gays and lesbians, but I don't know any happy ones. Their kids, at least the ones I know, are seriously messed up.
“Same sex marriage is not the right thing to do it is clearly the wrong thing to do.”
Obama knows he’s getting evicted in November and has to have his a$$ out by the end of January. So like all
evicted freeloaders, he’s going to trash the place on his
way out. This could possibly be the most dangerous time in
America, ever.
As for your list by the usurpers, you above all should know I don't disagree with a single one. We both could detail those at length, but it would take countless pages and bandwidth. I've always thought that someone should write another book like "Lost Rights" (James Bovard - 1994) and footnote every example.
Regarding Reid and other socialists having "empathy", well maybe to a point - they are human (sorta -ha!). If he and his ilk have a "moral compass", it definitely points south into the darkness of the abyss. Everything they do is contrary to what was once the greatest positive compass/example this rock has ever seen. I'm getting depressed of late because of watching our Constitution and yes, Christian/Judeo values, forsaken on a daily basis.
Thank you for still allowing me to post on your forum and being courteous in your reply. Best wishes to you and your loved ones and friends. You're a good man and a Patriot. I may not be as good of man, but my tagline still holds true.
