Former Fifth District Congressman Virgil Goode blasted presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney as the father of homosexual marriages in a statement released to the news media on the eve of Romneys visit to Liberty University this weekend.
Goode, now running for president on the Constitution Party ticket, referred to Romneys move as Massachusetts governor to issue same-sex marriage licenses in the wake of a state-court ruling.
Gov. Romney did not stand fast in favor of traditional marriage, said Goode, who lost his Fifth District seat in 2008 to Democrat Tom Perriello.
Goode said he has been a consistent supporter of defining marriage as being between one man and one woman.
At this point in our countrys history, we need a president who will stand firmly behind traditional marriage and the Federal Marriage Amendment. I am suspicious that Gov. Romney, if elected president, could waffle again, Goode said.
The stakes, to Goode: If homosexual marriages become normal across the country, the impact on states like Virginia, which prohibit gay marriage, will be huge. State taxpayers will have to pay for the expanded health insurance costs and State retirement costs. At the federal level, the impact on the Social Security Trust Fund and the Department of Defense will be significant when homosexual partners are granted the same monetary benefits that heterosexual married couples have under current Social Security law and provisions covering military spouses, he said.
There is no doubt that Goode is correct: Romney did not stand fast in opposition.
Reagan stood fast against the Soviet Union.
Reagan stood fast against those who would unilaterally disarm the US.
Reagan stood fast against the air traffic controllers.
Scott Walker is standing fast against the unions.
In other words, they didn’t cave in.
Romney caved. I think it’s because he’s an unprincipled wolf-in-sheep’s-clothing. Others might think it’s because he thought they had a royal flush hand. Either way it doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t stand fast.
You would be right. Apparently, supporting a liberal is fine, but supporting a conservative merits abuse.
LOL!
Bunch of CINOs!
Have you ever even *been* to Massachusetts, let alone lived here????????????????????????????????????
Amazing isn’t it?
It should be, but I have ceased to be amazed.
Yes, I have been to Massachusetts. Thoroughly enjoyed the historic sites. Didn’t enjoy the traffic circles. :>)
I remember some in Mass who stood fast, though: “One if by land; two if by sea.”
Think I’ll write one of those new Freeper Editorial things, entitled “Tips on Hunting CINOs”
Bet it’ll be a smash hit. :>)
Romney “caves” and flip flops because he is a habitual
liar. He needs the “grace” of God to change. Pray for
his conversion.
Quote from a well known leader, Bringham Young and the founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith. Someone posted asking...but what about one of the non-Christian beliefs (lies) of Mormonism?
That the lds jesus was conceived by sexual intercourse with Mary and the lds god.
~ ~ ~
Here is the statement of BY’s that JFS supports:
“When the Virgin Mary conceived the child Jesus, the Father had begotten him in
his own likeness. He was not begotten by the Holy Ghost. And who is the
Father? He is the first of the human family; and when he (Christ) took a
tabernacle, it was begotten by his Father in Heaven, AFTER THE SAME MANNER as
the tabernacles of Cain, Abel, and the rest of the sons and daughters of Adam
and Eve. Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same
character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven.”
(JoD 1:50-51, also “Answers”, vol. 5, p. 121).
To illustrate more clearly that BY meant that Christ’s conception was actual
physical sex, here is another of his statements:
“The birth of our Savior was as natural as are the births of our children; it
was the result of NATURAL ACTION. He partook of FLESH AND BLOOD—was begotten
of his father, as we were of our fathers.” (JoD, vol. 8, p. 115).
Here are a few more quotes from the 1962 Gospel Doctrine Sunday School Lesson
Manual “Gospel Living in the Home,” p. 16-17:
“Jesus Christ is the Son of Elohim both as spiritual and bodily OFFSPRING; that
is to say, Elohim is LITERALLY the Father of the spirit of Jesus Christ and
also of the BODY in which Jesus Christ performed his mission in the flesh...”
(as quoted from ‘The Articles of Faith’ by James E. Talmage, p. 466).
“We are told in the scriptures that Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of
God in the flesh....how are children begotten? I answer, just as Jesus was
begotten of his Father. The Christian denominations believe that Christ was
begotten not of God, but of the spirit that overshadowed his mother. THIS IS
NONSENSE. Why will they not believe the Father when He says that Jesus Christ
is His Only Begotten Son?”
Or,to put it another way,you acknowledge that you don't have the first clue about MASSACHUSETTS politics (emphasis intentional).
Post #47 sums up very nicely *exactly* how it happened,I know because
And those who fear Obama so much are going to suddenly grow a backbone to oppose who? If they're milquetoasts with Obama, then they'll be milquetoasts with Romney. In fact, they're probably certified, USDA Grade A milquetoast.
Yes. Reagan would support Goode. Reagan left one party over principle; he'd do it again.
And so were all the Massachusetts pundits who have written of their opposition to his caving in.
Barney Frank is from Mass, too, but I’ll bet I could do a lot better job than he did, even though he’s from there.
The act of SODOMY is a grave mortal sin. Voting for a man who legislates abortion is a grave mortal sin.
The people (there are some exceptions) of Massachusetts need to repent and make a good confession of these sins to God.
Catholics have to do more, they must go to Confession.
Everyone knows how evil Obama is but they think ignoring
who Romney really is will help. NO!!!
Today, I wish I had the quote, Mark Davis, the guest host
for Rush Limbaugh said Romney is closer to Christianity than
Obama’s Reverend Wright’s “Church.” What a comment to make even if it was true.
The Church does not recognize Mormon baptism as being Christian. Why? Their baptism is invalid because Mormons do not believe in the Trinity. Mormons profess so many falsehoods to contradict basic Christian beliefs.
Romney was the commencement speaker at a non-Catholic Christian university last Friday, playing along...like he is Christian~!!
Everyone is just going with it. What has happened to our
country?
“Barney Frank is from Mass, too, but Ill bet I could do a lot better job than he did, even though hes from there.”
~ ~ ~
Is this a joke? Isn’t Barney a sodomite? Gay is a cover word, like the cover word pro-choice.
Jesus mercy on all sodomites, pray they repent, worldwide
at the Great Warning or much better, before, some people will die seeing the state of their souls.
We will not feel the pain of seeing “CONFESSED” sins during our NDE like life review.
No one said he would be the “Savior.” Did you even read what I posted?
It is clear that Romney governed liberally in Mass. He had to, the legisalture was 85% DNC. Ask some one like Betty Boop who lived here while he was governor.
The Governor in Mass has very little power in appointing Supreme Court Judges in Mass. There’s a committee that oversees the thing which he first must get past, then there is the legislature that held an absolute veto proof majority.
Take a look at the 300 some odd vetoes Romney made...they will tell you something about him too.
If you do not take the time to talk to solid conservatives in Mass who were there under Romney, or really personal;ly take the time and effort to examine for yourself his record, his vetoes, etc. Then plase do not lecture me about manipulating reality, lemmings, or following blindly.
RomneyCare is really MassCare because it is what the people wanted. I believe it would have been far worse without Romney being there...as it is, I don’t agree with it, particularly because of the mandate portion.
But Romney’s influence over what was going to happen there as regards Health Care was not great. He was mainly elected there because of his financial capabilities.
Anyhow, as I said in my last post to you. We are not going to get this back all at once. We are going to have to fight and claw our way back. Romney represents something better than Obbama by far...and something that is running on the issues I pointed you to, despite his actions there in Mass. If we put in a conservative Congress (and notice I didn’t say GOP, and I didn’t for a reason, even though they will be Republicans...they have to be a Tea PArty conservative sort of Republicans), which we have to do in any case, they will hold him to his commitments.
You may disparage that if you will and that is your choice, but try not to be insulting and imagine that those of us trying to get rid of Obama with Romney do not understand the score or the risks involved with it.
There is simply no better alternative right now.
Nonsense.
Just like the (very fine) people who voted for Perot, a third party vote is so very foolish.
Goode will win zero (zero) states. However he can easily take a win from Romney and hand it to his (and your) friend Obama.
Trying to make a statement? Fine, when a second-term Mister Obama eviscerates our precious military, confiscates your private property, takes over the vote counting chore for ever and ever (see Russia), controls the internet (and removes FR and all similar forums), controls the airwaves (and gets rid of Rush and Levin and Hugh and all the others), takes over education (so your kids will turn you in for being an enemy of the state or the environment), and confiscates your firearms, you can rest assured that you made a difference.
.
Franklin Roosevelt famously said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself."
Romney Republicans are becoming famous for having absolutely nothing to offer but fear itself.
A third party candidate has a zero point zero chance of getting one measly state (out of 57).
Well-meaning people, just like you and me, did not support of Willard in the primaries; however, he is de-facto the GOP winner, and there is no changing that.
If you want to change the nominating process (and I surely do) then let's do that in the off season.
Had it not been for folks wanting to make a statement about Bush 41 (by voting for Perot), then Clinton never would have won. I pleaded PLEADED with conservative friends to think long-term, and tried to tell them that a third party, Perot vote statement would be promptly forgotten.
After Clinton was "elected", EVERY ONE of my Perot buddies, EVERY ONE rued their vote, and wished they had gone for Bush. There were no exceptions.
If you have kids, grandkids, or even hope to some day, think of THEM and forget the third party windmill tilt. Nobody will ever remember (intentional loser) Goode this time, next year, except for the folks that voted for him to the very peril of our fine Republic.
.
“It is clear that Romney governed liberally in Mass. He had to, the legisalture was 85% DNC.”
~ ~ ~
Does “liberally” mean, it is a woman’s choice to kill her newly conceived child?
Ignoring your “man” for who he is again. Romney signed so he agreed to abortion provided in Romneycare.
He lies now and says he is for life. The same on sodomy. He prefers homosexuals adopt children instead of saying no
as the Catholic agencies wanted. A child needs a mother and
a father, not a mother and a mother or a father and a father.
p.s. You’re silent, like Romney, concerning your Mormon belief on the Incarnation. What do you say of those quotes of Bringham Young and Joseph Smith that I shared? Falsely claiming, so unChristian.
Mary DID NOT conceive Our Lord by God the Father!
Answer to their quotes specifically and paste them please.
Nobody’s kids or grandkids deserve a Romney presidency.
Trust God. Reject Romney.
The unity for third party candidates is as poor as the unity in the notMitt vote in the primary. And the candidates are even weaker.
Pogo should be the mascot.
