More Boomers voted for Obama than McCain. The only demographic that McCain won was over 65. That’s it.

Someone finally noticed what I’ve been saying for a long, long time. Boomers are screwing everyone else over. Not to mention grandfathering pensions so that they get theirs, and everyone else gets nothing.

"In the last three general elections - 2004, 2006, and 2008 -- young voters have given the Democratic Party a majority of their votes, and for all three cycles they have been the party's most supportive age group. This year, 66% of those under age 30 voted for Barack Obama making the disparity between young voters and other age groups larger than in any presidential election since exit polling began in 1972. "

You need to find a new boogie man for why you are a victim.

So boomers should give their pensions to the Occupy crowd? Don’t think so.

The largest voting demographic, that is people who actually vote, is the seniors. As the boomers age, this demographic continues to swell. It is simple math. Boomers will own the vote for the next decade or so.

A rough look at the numbers: about 80 million born from 1945 to 1965. Add 65 years to 1945 and you get the year 2010. So, on average, 4 million boomers will reach the retirement age and the golden voting demographic of 65 years old. The deluge has begun. Results? the Me-me-me folks are going to get what they ask for; Gen X, Y & Z can go pound sand.

That may be the most liberal thing I have heard on FR in several months. Congratuations. I hope your Occupy thingy is going well too.

I'm a baby-boomer. I worked 22 years (after staying home with my children as long as was financially possible). Over that time I accumulated 130 days of sick leave-- because I showed up every day that I or one of my children wasn't too sick for me to be there. This year my feet (of all things) gave out. I can't work anymore because I can't stand all day. The shoes I have to wear cost me big time.
The only "pension" I'll draw is money I contributed over those 22 years and the state met with a 2.5% addition. Unless something kills me, I have reason to expect that I'll live into my 90's. Wish me luck. Or maybe you're wishing that I and others like me will crawl off and die, since we're so evil. BTW, I voted for McCain-- all the while holding my nose. I'll do the same for Obama's opponent. I haven't "screwed" you at all. You're a thoughtless person. [Please be aware that I am choosing my words carefully, unlike you with your filthy language. It's called civility. Try it some time.]

Boomers, generally speaking, also have a better work ethic, understand and deliberately fit into corporate culture, and have less “self-esteem” and feelings of grievance and entitlement. They are past their youthful angst, and don’t feel the need to “find themselves” or express themselves. And, have much fewer tattoos.

Dang it, so many conflicts and not enough getting along with all of this hope and change being thrown around.....

We have minorities vs whites, then anything Christian is terrifying and now add Jews to the mix but muslim is good as long as you keep your head about you.

Illegals good, legals & American-born bad and please do not ignore the war between homosexuals vs "breeders".

In language, English bad vs Spanish good.

American History is taboo including American Culture which is criminal but any other culture is good.

Our brave Military bad, but protesters that would not even sacrifice their cell phone is good.

Welfare Recipient good while any tax payer and worker is bad.

Unborn bad, abortion good.

Work hard for all you have is bad but taking from those that have is good.

People that obey the laws are bad while those that don't are good.

Now we can add the young vs the baby boomers. JC Breckenridge take some time to study history especially Germany prior to WWII. Tell me which side will you find yourself on. Will you be happy when finally the "selfish" baby boomers are placed in the "ovens"? Your Mom and Dad or your Grandparents? and when will it be your turn in the bull eye? Unless you are part of the elite, sadly your turn is coming.

My younger daughter entered the workforce part-time at 15, tutoring calculus. After one quarter, they hired her as a grader.

No problemo. You have the skill or you don't. This poll may reflect more on the decline on our schools than it does bias in hiring and retaining jobs. What with the conversion to positive reinforcement conditioning therein, so many have an attitude of entitlement to go with their general incompetence that I have little wonder at this statistic. Moreover, were the young truly equivalent in value per dollar, they would be hired preferentially, as they have both lower salaries and healthcare costs.

Or had you considered that?

Wow...liberal, occupy much lately?

Really, have a problem with people contributing to a pension or 401k etc. and then expecting something out of it? Well, if they don't get what they were expecting ...then they are going to keep working. How is that double edged sword working out there for you?

Actually the problem for the younger generation is the education system has failed them miserably. They taught you all how to depend on everyone else, they gave you entitlements instead of teaching you how to win and lose, they played with your mind and self-esteem and never taught you the ethics needed to make it in the real world, they took away your American dreams, and instead replaced them with ‘Dreams from My Father.’

Every generation that has gone through a recession has produced American genius and innovation...until this one. Instead we have a younger generation standing around with their hands out thinking they deserve something they did not do the work for. That attitude, that perception is the result of the socialist teachers and drivel they filled your minds with. Your life and society's culture is not going to improve or get better by protests and standing around looking for a financial handout. Your life gets better when you put yourself and your mind to work.

The only obligation that my generation has to you is to ‘save the American Dream,’ and that means saving you from your own self-destruction.

Do you think you could take that chip off your shoulder long enough to learn some facts before you continue spouting off? If so, I direct your attention to Who Killed Private Pensions.

Baby Boomer or Generation Xer, we all have a difficult road ahead of us. Drivng a wedge between the generations is not helpful.

“Someone finally noticed what I’ve been saying for a long, long time. Boomers are screwing everyone else over.”

Really? REALLY?

Or is it that when someone hires a Boomer, they get someone who comes to work to actually work, not just show up and expect a pay check?

Maybe it’s because Boomers have work ethics missing from the pampered trophy-for-participation crowd.

That only lasts as long as they can keep floating municipal bonds to keep the ponzi scheme running.

And that wagon is running out of gas fast.

Feel pity for them. They were promised a bright shiny Star Trek world, and have never recovered that they were lied to.

Their end will be very bad. The generations they raised after them learned their lessons well, I fear, and will kill them off before it gets to “inconvenient”.

And once again, those of us who came after will have to clean up the mess.

Excuse me but as a 68 year young Seasoned Citizen, I resemble that remark.

I also have to work, but as I am self-employed, am not "stealing" or taking away anyone else's job and will keep working as long as the Good Lord give's me good health and enough stamina to keep on trucking as my business is one which requires manual (as opposed to Manuel, lol) labor.

In the meantime, all I have to say to you younguns who are castigating and taking us Old Farts to task is this:
