One key point conservatives made in todays story about President Obama backing same sex marriage is that it would drive away conservative Latino and African-American voters. Thats what folks like conservative activist Gary Marx told us.
That possibility is wildly unlikely, said Gary Segura, professor of American Politics and Chicano Studies at Stanford University and a principal in the polling firm Latino Decisions.
While many Latinos are Catholic, a religion which does not condone same sex marriage, Segura said Latinos rarely let their religious beliefs steer their votes.

Hey, you’ll never believe what I found, it is a really interesting quote. It sounds A LOT like what Obama said yesterday...
He said he does not support federal action allowing gay marriages, however. “Historically the way marriage has been regulated is at the state level,” Cheney said. “It has always been a state issue and I think that is the way it ought to be handled, on a state-by-state basis.”
Obama must have read this recently
I live in Alabama and work with about 20 black people on a daily basis at my job. It was the talk of the office this morning and not one of them agreed with his decision. There was a lot of “What has gotten into his mind?”. I dont think it will change any of their vote away from him, but it will keep alot of them from voting all together.
I was talking to my husband and the very same thing came up. He agreed that Black voters ,in good conscience, cannot vote against him (well, at least the people he spoke with) but they can certainly stay home. I think Obama is about to learn that every action has an equal but opposite reaction.
I have met a few moderate/liberal black Republicans in Maryland but that is a small %. Most blacks have a very strong trust in the Federal government to protect them and help them, and history shows why they would, They see the the 1960s civil rights era and the FBI vs the KKK in Alabama case as a model.
as I posted on another thread, Republicans can take advantage of Obama’s confession by running independent organization issue ads in black and Latino areas in the South that show Obama sucking up to rich looking white gays and Hollywood gay types for $$$$, while things got worse in their areas under Obama. But Rs must understand the dynamics, Turnout in those groups in 2012 can be made to be much lower than it was in 2008, much like Romney will repress some turnout on the R side..
Another argument to use for above,:ask blacks if they are insulted when libs claim that gays are the new Jim Crowe era blacks. I find that one really works well, See if they are willing trivialize their own civil rights history to support the Democrat LGBT revolution, and this can be fun too, because it hits a great nerve,
It could be so easy, but Republicans big R are pretty dense.

Yes it does!
Pew Research did a nationwide Hispanic poll right before the 2010 Congressional elections.
It asked participants to rank 14 issues in order of importance.
From memory.....
Number 8 - Immigration
Number 12 - Abortion
Number 13 - Gay Marriage
In terms of voter registration, Hispanics are 65% Democrat and 22% Republican
Except for the outlier elections in 1994 and 2010, Hispanics have consitently voted 70% for Democrat Congressional candidates for at least 20 years.
Factor out Republican Cubans, and these numbers look even worse.
On single issue state amendments, like abortion or gay marriage, Hispanics may appear to be more Conservative.
But they absolutely are not going to stay home or vote Republican based strictly on gay marriage.
Run those ads in Luis Guiterrez's (D-IL) district, and I think all the so-called "socially conservative" Hispanics in Chicago will respond by rushing out the door to vote for him. Any Hispanic candidate who is actually "socially conservative" will get crushed in the Democrat primary, let alone the general election.
God's wrath is nothing to play around with:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Graveyard, meet Whistle.
This issue will make Christians and other groups that were “ehh” or doubtful about Romney vote for Romney (actually, against Obama).
Obama needs the volume of votes to perpetrate voter fraud. If enough of his 2008 voters say on the sidelines, that can't happen.
That, coupled with an advertising campaign like you laid out would be DEVASTATING to Obama.
Personally, I think he's going to lose anyway, this cements it.
BillyBoy: You're spot on. This supposed HUGE block of values voters exists like a perfect round of golf exists - only in theory. A "gimme" crowd is a "gimme" crowd, even if they use a church as a background prop.
I live in Texas. My next door neighbor is 100% hispanic and a retired state employee with a state pension, but he is against Obama, Hillary, and thinks that today unions are making outrageous demands. He doesn't like Rick Perry because he thinks he is crooked.
However, I believe amnesty would give voting rights to very few like him. And even new legal immigrants vote mostly for Dems.
Most “Latinos” have the same church attendances habits as do the Obamas.
“However, I believe amnesty would give voting rights to very few like him. And even new legal immigrants vote mostly for Dems.”
You got that right!!!
They won’t vote for Romney but they may wake up on Election Day and not be all that motivated to go out an vote.
Plus a wishy washy white independent in, say, Iowa, who is a mish mash of conservative and liberal might stay home or vote for Romney.
But especially Latinos...there is more than just this issue that might make them not be super motivated.
Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Virginia and maybe and Iowa/Wisconsin this might have a little subliminal effect.
Often decisions to vote or not are really the result of a lot of paper cuts rather than one big thing.
Ive never seen such blind allegience.
Their honor is their loyalty.
MOST immigrants vote for Democrats....just fact.
I agree. My neighbor was born here, so he is a non-immigrant Hispanic.
