SALT L AKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A Colorado teen is upset with screeners at Salt Lake City International Airport. The type one diabetic says TSA agents were abrupt, rude and were responsible for breaking her $10,000 insulin pump. A pump she has to have to survive.
Savannah Barry is mad and on a mission. She wants travelers to be warned before they walk through TSA security. "They need to get with the program and have some education across the board for TSA." After participating in a DECA conference in Salt Lake City with several classmates last week, Savannah, who is a type one diabetic and wears an insulin pump 24 hours a day, says she ran into TSA agents who were not prepared to deal with her medical situation. "I went up to the lady and I said, I am a type one diabetic. I wear an insulin pump. I showed her the pump. I said, what do you want me to do? I usually do a pat down - what would you recommend?"

Our son just takes his pump off and puts it through the carry-on scanner. We haven’t had any problems.
From watching the video at the site it looks like the girl had a letter from the pump manufacturer saying the pump should not go through the body-scanner. By all means, don’t listen to the manufacturer, the TSA agent knows better.
They are so worried about the pump but I don’t hear any mention of the syringes and opened vial of liquid that is likely stuffed in her carry-on. TSA is too stupid to realize a possible weapon when they see it.
BJ. There were 2 reports: 1) terrorist-fired MANPAD and, 2) US Navy training accident. In either case, it’d be a massive cover-up, but it could be done, I guess. The evidence for #1 is very extensive, though. Not so much for #2; that was a scapegoat position, I believe.
My bad: it was July 1996, not 1995.
Lots here to read, until *eternity* comes: http://twa800.com/
Shot down with what?
Our local airport recently got a full body scanner and the TSA runs EVERYONE through it and doesn't bother with the metal detector. I suppose they have to justify the use of their new toy.
“1) terrorist-fired MANPAD”
Of course, always easy to see a 5 foot long, flat-finish (non-reflective), 6” wide missile from over 5-miles away.
“2) US Navy training accident.”
Of course, all those thousands of Navy and other service personnel that you thank for their service can keep a terrible secret of a “shoot-down” of an American civilian aircraft. Of course, those thousands of honorable servicemen that we thank for their service for being patriotic and dedicated Americans are willing to lie to protect one of the most loathed presidents by the military. Of course, there are no grudge-carrying enlisted (or officer) that would be blabbing and turning in the Big Guys in charge.
Of course, the lack of proof is proof of how good the cover-up was.
Not going to change your feelings on this, I know. Just needed to point out the obvious logical and factual inconsistencies of your feelings on this subject just so those casually reading this thread may be better informed.
I gave up long ago. Kudos to you for making your point in a civil manner.
Yes the TWA aircraft was shot down. Media tried to spin it as static electricity in fuel tank or some such nonsense. I do believe it proved to be the beginning of the end for TWA - my first employer and a once great airline.
I don’t buy the shoot down theory, either. Even if the Navy wanted to cover it up there is no way they could keep a couple hundred mouths shut. It just isn’t in the average sailor’s DNA to cover up something like that.
Liberals do not want liberty for anyone. They would rather dictate what we do, what we buy, where we go and when, and what we can do while there. Please donate. The Republic you save may be your own. |
>>He could have breezed through security at any airport.<<
Muslim Brotherhood members are part of the TSA.
I like this part:
“The only surefire way to detect nonmetallic explosive devices is using bomb-sniffing dogs, but thats impractical at crowded airports.
There arent enough dogs to check every passenger at every security line.
And travelers would be even more offended than they are now if they were sniffed by a dog before boarding any flight.”
If you asked me, I would take the dog sniffing over the cancer machine or being pawed over by a TSA mouthbreather, any day of the week.
Yeah, well pal, I don't drink beer and I don't watch American Idol, and I DO have to fly for my job....one hell of a lot. I'm not given much of a goddamned choice what happens at airports across the U.S. and elsewhere.
So be REAL careful who you call "sheeple".
You left out the video, taken from the patio of a restaurant/bar that was shown on the no-work news that night or the next.
Thanks, guys.
I never thought for a second that the US Navy had anything to do with it, other than salvage operations, but the theories etc are out there. I respect our US Military - all branches - very much.
The MANPAD theory is also out there, and while I doubt anyone could see the actual missile from 5+ miles at dusk, perhaps the flame and trail could be seen. The 2 chopper pilots who claimed to have seen it, had experience w/ other projectiles and MANPADS, IIRC.
The used MANPAD tube (which the USN recovered and which later disappeared), PETN inside the plane, plane’s structural hit exam etc etc etc are purely circumstantial, IMO, but added together make a case for a terrorist-fired missile, of some kind. IIRC, MANPADS don’t reach the altitude TWA 800 was at when it exploded. But too many people saw it happen; I think it was 30+ who the FBI interviewed and *sanitized* the field interviews, pics, videos, sketches etc.
I’m not a black helicopter theorist or anything like that, but this whole thing just doesn’t pass the smell test. It stinks. I think the FBI and NTSB picked-up a turd and tried to dust-it-off, but too many people already knew otherwise.
Who knows what recent history we might have avoided, including Clinton's second term and all that's come from it, had they been professional investigators instead of professional politicians and their enabling helpers.
Oh well...at least some contractors got some B747 BS mod work to do and Bill got 4 more years and many, many more interns. Priorities, doncha know.
Priorities + politics = whitewashing (am I being racist?).
At this point, with enough money and power, I'll bet "they" can cover up anything they want to. Maybe not forever, but long enough for it to go away. The Normalcy bias is very strong.
With the appropriate motivations and/or threat, almost anyone will be quiet. That's what I learned studying American politics. TWA Flt 800 is just one example.
“gahnzo55,” at the news site behind the link, argued against the young woman and in favor of TSA on the issue. “Get tough on crime,” eh? Republicrats! No vote, no sale.
Either fight the high intensity foreign war, or enjoy your police state protection of the political regulator class from the 99%.
