FOUR out of five black women are seriously overweight. One out of four middle-aged black women has diabetes. With $174 billion a year spent on diabetes-related illness in America and obesity quickly overtaking smoking as a cause of cancer deaths, it is past time to try something new.

“fat chance” and “slim chance” mean the same thing.”
I know, isn’t that weird?
It’s like “sanction” it can mean to approve or to censure.
English is a strange language!
Or "big girls".
“English is a strange language!”
Don’t get me started... I learned it when I came here as a teenager and when you don’t grow up with it from birth it’s even stranger.
Why is it “top-down” and “bottom-up”?
Why are words with identical spelling pronounced differently, e.g. wind, lead, bass, bow, etc
Why are words with different spelling pronounced the same?
Two, too, to, right, wright, rite, buy, by, bye, for, four, fore, etc.
And how the hell do you come up with pronouncing “one”, “won”?
I think they prefer the term "big boned". Or "big girls".
"Fat chicks" is completely out of the question.
Reminds me of the guy in college who claimed the university hired the ugliest, fattest women they could find to do housekeeping in the men's dormitories for that very reason.
Baby got back.
Yeah, but somehow southerners managed to eat that same diet and stay thin back in the day.
Baby got a COUPLE of backs!
"Oh, I say, capital rendition, wouldn't you agree, Basil?"
I was just in the upper midwest and saw as many fatties there as here
And yes....most black women today are fat....and poor whites too
Its discipline....due to the lack of....poverty and obesity go together
No responsibility or self control
Only places ive seen that have mostly thin women are....beaches...high altitude and rich zip codes
When i was a lad way back..few people period were fat.....it is an epidemic Not for the govt i agree.....but incredible
This is going to be one of those TMI posts!
I used to work in a La riverboat casino. One year my dad took an awesome cooking class and I gained 15 pounds... all in my thighs and rear end!
It made my casino issued stretchy black pants tight in those areas. I never had a chance to be embarrased about it though, because I started getting asked out every single night, my tips went sky high, and I was even asked to help out with promotional work (meet and greet)!
I’d never go out with a guy that started a conversation with, “Dang, girl! Nice badonk!”. But I sure didn’t mind the extra money on my paycheck.
FYI the attention was from both black and white men. Some men just like thick thighs. Its not a black only thing. Just saying.
Obesity.....whites imitating black thug kulture....and serial illegitimacy...
Have all followed the same trajectory the past 25 years
Given how freepers rationalize fatness....i bet plenty of us are chunky
It’s in the DNA
IMO, it’s partly genetics, but mostly cultural and behavioral. If you move at a snails pace at all times, burn very few calories all day, and eat way too much, you are likely going to end up huge.
I recently passed through Birmingham, AL and stopped at a Coldstone Ice Cream shop, where I observed a long succession of very young, massively obese black girls and young adult women purchasing very large cups of ice cream, which had to contain at least 1000 calories each. Assuming the consumption of three 1000 calorie meals in addition, you are looking at 4000 calories or more per day.

Works for me. The last time I paid the NY Times real money was for a dead-tree edition from a news vendor. And I can't remember when that was, suffice to say, not this millennium.
Good link. I was trying to remember that this phenomena is probably genetic and “tribal”. Some of the African tribes that exhibit this “body type” are also “matriarchal”, the women do most of the work while the men will occasionally hunt, but usually just sit around and shoot the breeze.
Some things never change...
