Ten people were shot between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning on the city's South and West Sides, including a man who died this morning after being shot on the Lower West Side and a 12-year-old girl who survived a gunshot wound on the West Side Saturday night.
The girl was standing on a sidewalk in the 500 block of North Springfield Avenue in East Garfield Park about 10:30 p.m. Saturday when she was shot in the left foot, police said. It's not clear exactly what the circumstances were that led up to the shooting, police said. She's in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
The girl's family didn't cooperate with the investigation, according to police.

Let me guess — all perps and victims are black? U.S. enemedia doesn’t want to touch these stories with a 10 foot pole. Reasons? They would be reporting on the epidemic of black on black crime which is very politically incorrect. And by reporting on the beyond abysmal amount of shootings in Chicago they would be highlighting the absolute failure of gun control legislation.
Yep, you’re right, the family wouldn’t cooperate.
It’s likely the girls doesn’t live with parents. She may be living in one of those ad hoc “family” arrangements, which are more common among ghetto people than among the rest of us.
And this “family” of hers wants nothing to do with the police.
Heck that right there is half the problem in the ghetto. Too many see the police an an enemy. Combined with the way the gangs intimidate people, it makes for many never solved drive by shootings and other crimes. Nobody will ever testify in court or file reports with police on things they have seen.
I guess things are different from when I grew up (1950s). Back than I wasn’t allowed outside after dark. And that included weekends. Most parents in my neighborhood were that way.
Today, even adults don’t hang around outside after dark unless they are buying drugs or something illegal.
Either ...
A) the parents are afraid of retribution from the gangs/dealers
or
B) she was being used a a courier for crack
Looks like an improvement of stats in Rahmtown this weekend.
Gun control must be improving things.
Maybe a parent who is also her pimp.
Sounds like the “little brothers” are warming up for this summer and fall. That is why you don’t see “Jesse & Al.”
Oh, you must be mistaken. It is Canadians who are doing all the shooting.
Oh, you must be mistaken. It is Canadians who are doing all the shooting.
I just read the article title - said to self “I bet this is Chicago”, clicked and “Voila!” - no surprise.
What does surprise me is how the media reports the weekly carnage in a gun-free city without any push for change. Its just like the reports for gas price increases. State the figure and there you go - that’s your news.
The real story is the complete collapse of a democrat controlled system with real people dying in a futureless society that makes gang-banging an attractive “lifestyle” to the poor “graduates” of the modern education system in a union-dominated, minority administered, corrupt government.
Its more than sad, it is criminal. IMHO.
Just another normal weekend in Chicago.
Why would they not cooperate with police?
Maybe they were pimping the kid out, who knows?
Oh my God........ You may be right. Sickening to think that a 12 year old girl is out in the streets like that, but that could be why she was out there, and why her alleged family members won’t talk to the police.
This shows a different mindset, doesn’t it? Most of us here would take for granted, that if you are a crime victim, that of course you go to law enforcement to deal with it. But the mindset in the ghetto is different.
Friendly fire.
We need to end this war in Chicago and pull our guys out of there......oh wait; I thought with the casualty count and all, well you know, my mistake.
I'll never forget the first time my Dad drove us through downtown Chattanooga late one night. I was only about 10 but I was hanging out the window looking at all the lights and people. Suddenly I squealed “look at all those pretty women standing under the lights”. LOL Dad said “shut up and get back in the car”.
That was in the early 60’s so I can only imagine how much worse things are now!
And that right there is at the heart of the problem with serious crime in many urban black communities, yet no one wants to talk about things like that.
