The Washington post ^ | May 3, 2012 | Ben Pershing and Jon Cohen

Obama is ahead of Romney, the presumed Republican nominee, 51 percent to 44 percent among registered voters. And Romney does no better against Obama than he did a year ago, despite his emergence as the GOP standard-bearer.

Obama is so awful, and so loathed nationwide, even by the majority that do not follow politics like we do here, that he will lose big. I will gladly take Romney with his many, many faults over the despicable POS that is in there now.

Also, with all due respect, I do believe there are only two candidates that are actually electable: Obama and Romney.

I love Virgil, and think he could get 5% in the 5th District, but I don’t see him doing that well statewide. I don’t think he’ll even do that well in the 5th because Obama is so disliked here that voters will not take the chance unless Obama is very, very far behind on election day.

Now how the hell does that happen? Did they interview 34% students? Transients?

Yes, but I suspect that alot of “Vote for Obama or your a rascist” worked in NOVA in 2008. Not the same this time around.

Actually, Virginia usually has only a small protest vote UNLESS the voters are provoked ~ and that's happened.

Virgil can count on the very normal 1% protest, but probably more in this case. Romney, if he does no better than McCain, loses Virginia.

Even unopposed, and with only his own supporters voting, Romney got fewer primary votes in 2012 than in 2008, and I believe fewer than McCain had gotten.

Playing funny with the primary rules in a situation where you have very small margins for victory seems to me to have been one of the stupidest moves the Mittbots could have made.

Now they pay. Then we pay. They'll need to change countries.

Obama won in Virginia as a whole. He crushed McCain like a bug.

Keep in mind this was and is a very evenly divided state and the other side didn't leave town after 2010.

Democrats have a great deal of experience successfully peddling inferior, even criminal, candidates. They are going after Virginia and the Republicans look they want to run one of their own inferior candidates this time.

Yup, there you have it ~ that's the way to lay out that machinery. Losing Virginia loses the election, and the people who got the Mittbots in that "sure fire way to win the primary' and advised Romney to not speak out against such chicanery, are the ones who are responsible ~ and in fact probably had that in mind.

I think some of Romney's top campaign advisors worked for McCain last time and their first focus was on destroying Sarah Palin.

If Romney thinks people like that are trustworthy he deserves to lose!

Speaking of this thread almost 4 months ago, we still see just about the same breakdown in the Rombot/Bamabot division of the electorate. There's been some ratcheting around the epicenter due to various losses of factions by each campaign, but there's no 50%+1 victory in sight in Virginia for anybody.

Romney is not delivering the goods that he promised ~ and it's gonna' start hurting the local polling for Senate and House races this coming week.

The old ‘vote for or your a rasis’ had no effect in Virginia. This is where Doug Wilder ~ an African American ~ was elected governor in the recent past. He won because he’s actually a fairly conservative guy ~ particularly when it comes to fiscal matters.

Like to remind you ~ rub your nose in it in fact ~ it's 4 months later and Romney still hasn't given Virginia a big turnaround.

Why are you running this guy?

Just PO’s me reading garbage with Obama wrecking our country.

The election is winnable and when it’s won fools like you will still be fools.

5 months later it’s not really any closer. Cheaters never prosper! ~ particularly when they get found out. He’s lucky his opponent isn’t liked here either.
