Russias most senior military officer said Thursday that Moscow would preemptively strike and destroy U.S.-led NATO missile defense sites in Eastern Europe if talks with Washington about the developing system continue to stall.
A decision to use destructive force preemptively will be taken if the situation worsens, Russian Chief of General Staff Nikolai Makarov said at an international missile defense conference in Moscow attended by senior U.S. and NATO officials.
The threat comes as talks about the missile defense system, which the U.S. and its allies insist is aimed at Iranian missiles, appear to have stalled.
We have not been able to find mutually-acceptable solutions at this point and the situation is practically at a dead end, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov said.
Ellen Tauscher, the U.S. special envoy for strategic stability and missile defense, insisted the talks about NATO plans for a missile defense system using ground-based interceptor missiles stationed in Poland, Romania and Turkey were not stalemated.

Has it occurred to anyone that russian intelligence has concluded their agent obama won’t win reelection? They have to get what they can now.
or in bed with a guy....
C’mon dudeskis...obammy said if you’ll give him some flexability he’ll help y’all out after the election. Remember?
Almost???
Absolutely not, but RR would have had NATO in complete control.
Observe how NATO was used against Libya by Zero, compared to Reagan's strike to completely reign in Qaddafi. Reagan did it right, and put Qaddafi under the US thumb for life. Bush disarmed his nukes.
Zero got oil for Europe, and cash, gold and weapons for Muslim Brotherhood terrorist war against Israel. We got to pay the terrorists.
The operative word here is “threatens” The Russkies have been threatening to do this or that since I was in 3rd grade. They know they can push Barry around. Thats going to end in Nov when we throw him out on his ear. Mitt may not be my personal choice but I doubt he will bend to the Russians.
This is just one part of the “more flexability,” Obama was telling Medved to pass on to Putin.

In parts of Europe, yes.
Observe Russia's reaction to the Clintoon NATO war against the Serbs and the Islamization of Kosovo, they were NOT happy.
Observe the Putin engineered punishment of Georgia (identical justification as Serbia) where Russia demonstrated what happens if you have an interest in joining NATO (Georgia; Ukraine) and wish to kiss Western European ass.
Observe how Putin has Chechnya on the barbecue.
Still, it is really about the Russian Empire and how all Europe will be a part of it. The Western European states will just have to suffer their Muslims as well as Russia, or they could send their infidels to fight to protect Muslims, if they wish.
What say you Ernie?
President Bush is not a coward, and he is absolutely not a traitor and I am sure Romney is neither, but men of General George S. Patton's courage are few and far between, and almost never President.
Would Putin pull the trigger? He already has, and dared NATO or the US to come to the aid of Georgia.
Why not? He had been bending over since Frank Marshall Davis introduced him to the business!
This thread should be pinged to the 0h0m0sexual agenda ping list, composite/compressed "girlfriends" not withstanding!
This is like buying a bullet proof vest and putting it on and walking outside and your next door heighbor starts taking shots at you BECAUSE you are wearing a bulletproff desk....
That is indeed a possibility.
Interestingly, Putin has endorsed Zero's reelection and actually contributed to his campaign. (Yeah, I know it's illegal, he did it anyway.)
But the big thing is: Russia doesn't need to wait.
They can do this now, or with whatever President we have on January 14, 2013, it doesn't matter what we do.
However the meeting is now and Putin gets to show his strength as he takes office in Russia. there are a lot of Russian nationalists that love this kind of display of Russian strength.
Actually, we have had the bullet proof vest on for some time, Patriot 3 is operational in the US.
This is a quicker reacting system we will provide for Europe, and its not in place yet. It's like there is a third neighbor (Europe) between the two and they will shoot at him if he tries to put on the bullet proof vest we gave him.
I throw this out for what ever it is worth. Six months ago at a meeting, I made friends with two Russian Cosmonauts who were retired Colonels (the same military rank as I) were discussing our relative countries positions. After several bottles of wine, we were definite friends. All I can say is to solve the worlds problems, supply French Wine. This was at a meeting in Peru.
That was my take on it when I saw the headline on Drudge.
They are enjoying the fact that there is a singularly weak and foolish “American” as Commander in Chief, but they understand that their current good fortune is a rapidly wasting asset, so they are going to try and get what they can while the getting is still good.
Thanks Navy Patriot.
Now I consider Marxists, Communists and Islamicists my mortal enemies, and liberals, progressives and socialists criminals.
I consider Russian, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese people tough competitors.
Separating who is Communist, or STILL Communist, and who is not, is now very difficult, and very important.
We can get along with competitors form a position of economic and military strength, but we can never get along with Communists or Islamicists.
“Screw Russia.”
A reasonable and worthy sentiment, in a world in which America has a C-in-C unfailingly and without hesitation committed to the defense and survival of America.
But, . . . ?????
