If you haven't seen the hilariously effective ad by Karl Rove's American Crossroads group that portrays Barack Obama as a celebrity president with a failed economic record, check it out in the video clip.
Mika Brzezinksi was clearly peeved at how well the ad was playing even with her liberal-dominated panel. After Obama fan Donny Deutsch, and no-conservative-he John Heilemann praised the ad, a Mika at wit's end sought to recruit HuffPo's Sam Stein to help her out. "Can you debunk some of the things in the ad?", she entreated. Stumbled Stein: "ah-h-h-h-h, sure, I guess." After offering a paltry defense that Joe Scarborough demolished, Stein was reduced to saying that Mika had invited him to try to debunk the ad, and that "I'm trying my best!"

That’s exactly where I’m at.
As a New Yorker...the only incentive I’ve had for standing in line on voting day was to give my candidate the highest number possible.
I also get the satisfaction of looking at our county on the NY map, and ours is sometimes the only red county. Some elections one or two other light up red..but ours is consistently red time after time.
Romney does not inspire me to turn out. Maybe I will be inspired by the thought of writing in somebody. We’ll see.
“If you hate Romney really bad,
and you live in a state not in question, either red or blue,
you can vote third party without putting Obama in office.”
And then you can emulate playing the silly games that our elected officials play. You know the one:
This bill is really unpopular, we only need 20 votes out of the remaining 30 members, so 10 of you can vote “against” since you’re up for re-election.
How about just dealing with reality? We have a 2 party system, Obama is horrible. No matter what you think of Romney, he’s better than Obama.
I think part of what’s driving the anti-Romney sentiment (other than the obvious preference stated pretty clearly, by the owner of this fine site) is that many seem to have drawn a conclusion that Romney, is like McCain.
On that, this poster would differ. I heard Rush Limbaugh mention this also, recently.
The very important difference between John McCain and Mitt Romney, is that Romney really, genuinely wants and is in fact deeply committed to, WINNING THE ELECTION.
He’s not running to beat his primary challengers, as McCain was. He’s not just trying to win over media leftists, by beating other Republicans.
No. Romney is in this to be president. He’s been utterly devastating in effectiveness, as far back as 2008 when his minions pounced on and demonized Sarah Palin, and his entire world since then has been about winning the presidency this year.
Every move he’s set out to do, he has accomplished.
I’m no Mitten. I find the guy revolting, and carry a grudge over his flunkies’ treatment of the finest Republican candidate this century (Governor Palin).
But there’s really little question anymore, Romney is pretty talented at winning elections.
He’s going to be a formidable opponent against Obama, if he ends up our nominee.
And he’s no communist.
If “my” plan gets a third party to the vaunted 5%,
then the two party system has a new paradigm to deal with.
They did it in the '30s and '40s with FDR. They woke up every day and blamed Hoover, elected and reelected FDR 4 times until G-d finally had to intervene. Faith in the socialist myth trumps reality for these people no matter how bad it gets or how long it lasts.
Now, it will be ABO.
I just hope he picks a really good, conservative running mate. I would like to have something to get excited about.
Isn't it funny that Obama chose the blunt nail Biden and it didn't matter? McCain (RINO) chose Palin, and it almost caused him to win. I think it scared him silly that he might actually win.
At least Romney really does want the job and is fighting for it. I think McCain just wanted to be the GOP candidate. He was fine with being runner up.
When your work-related dinner companions think that Obama is a slam-dunk to win a second term, it is somewhat like the Jim Jones followers that drank the Kool-aid. They will be in for a big surprise come November.
And he’s never eaten dog.
Lol.
Beck listener?...
Tokyo Rove has accomplished his life’s goal ... of being Mutt Romney’s lickspittle. So now we’ll see his best work coming out of his PAC.
Too bad he didn’t waste that much time on a conservative.
Definitely a highlight of the show.
Fortunately for her, Joe is a RINO who thinks that attacking Republicans 50% of his time makes him fair and balanced.
He always says :”I am as conservative as the next fellow but...”
Yep, if the NEXT fellow is Grahamnesty
As silly as the dog eat dog episode was this last week, it showed that he and his team isn't afraid to go after Obama on all levels. Apparently, Mittens is a fighter and is willing to not just fight his own family (Republicans), but to fight the leader of the neighborhood gang.
Mittens willing to take of the Mitts against Obama?
I was just SICK that McCain got the nom in 2008...
But then he picked Sarah as his running mate.
“But theres really little question anymore, Romney is pretty talented at winning elections.
Hes going to be a formidable opponent against Obama, if he ends up our nominee.
And hes no communist.”
I agree with your post. I’d also add that Romney wants to be president as a goal. That is, he has no agenda like Obama. So, if there is a strong Congress, I think Romney can be pushed into being somewhat conservative.
And he doesn’t hate America.
Perot was doing very well, before he went cuckoo towards the end of the campaign.
With those ears and some shoe polish, he’d make a passable 0bama impersonator... :)
Anyway, wasn’t he running as “Independent”, ie, no party affiliation which would then garner matching funds the next year?
You bring up a sore point that goes like this... “Dole, McCain, Romney...”
That argument was popular here in 2008 EXCEPT most people polled said they thought that Republicans still controlled congress. So republicans got creamed.
Then in 2009 I started posting that the above was not a very good argument anyway. So I got called a DUer a few times for not being a R team player (not the last time either LOL)
The problem with the : 'Pelosi took over the House in 2007 so that's why the economy started it's diving ~ 8 months later, September 2007' argument, is that now Republicans took over the House from Dems with Obama as POTUS.
Do we use that same rule and give Obama a pass for rising prices and crappy employment and blame Boehner for all these problems? I like to stay some-what consistent.
