Independent candidate Ross Perot received 19741065 with 18.9 percent of the popular vote for President.

Perot was doing very well, before he went cuckoo towards the end of the campaign.

Anyway, wasn’t he running as “Independent”, ie, no party affiliation which would then garner matching funds the next year?

You bring up a sore point that goes like this... “Dole, McCain, Romney...”
