Barack Obama is attacking the family farm an American tradition. The administrations Department of Labor implemented new regulations to restrict children from working on the family farm. This is despite the fact that farm accidents and injuries have decreased over the past several years.
For generations children and adults have worked together on the family farm. Those days are over.
Senators John Thune (R-S.D.) and Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) introduced the Preserving Americas Family Farm Act, to prevent the Department of Labor (DOL) from enacting its controversial proposed restrictions that would ban children from working on family farms.
Recently, Senator John Thune spoke out against the Obama Administrations proposed labor rules for youth who work on farms and ranches on the Senate floor.
The Marxist-Leninist dogma said, A small property generates capitalism day by day, minute by minute, spontaneous, and in mass proportions. The small-time farmer feeding his family, with a little surplus, was seen as an individual member of the bourgeoisie, requiring squashing.
Redistributing wealth is the only thing communists know how to do brutally and stealthily well. Those who do not pay taxes or hold down jobs protest that it is their right to steal someone elses money. Theyve even come up with a new euphemism, they are not stealing the wealth of producers, they are merely forcing them to share the burden.
But it is stealing! Every moment of time that we must work to earn money and pay taxes that are then spent by our out-of-control government on non-producers is a moment too long that we are slaves to someone else, a moment of time that is stolen from our limited time on earth.

The new kulaks.
Soon we will bury these dogs once and for all.
It’s my understanding that small family owned businesses, and family farms, have been mostly exempted from the various labor laws. So now we’re seeing an attack on family farms by Obama???? For what purpose? To “protect” children on farms from having to do certain chores? To create yet another bureaucracy to enforce new regulations?
What the heck?
Every day, it becomes more apparent just how liberal Obama really is.
One important thing that kids learn from working on the family farm and ranches is.....independence. This is what those in government fear the most. Have a politician try and make political changes in rural America.
Obama could save time - jump ahead to collective farms and mass starvation...
Nope! He is a hard core communists black wanna be dictator.
Some legal eagle, help me out here.
Is there a constitutional issue?
What gives the Feds the right to tell parents on farms that their children can’t help out?
The children are not employees, in the workforce.
Same thing if you have your child help you do things on a non-farm. They aren’t an employee of yours.
Somebody help with this.
I haven’t heard it discussed from a legal perspective.
I hate it when the writer gives up and says, “those days are over”.
The days of children helping on the farm are over, because of Obama??
Come on people, don’t just role over and die!!
Strong families, work ethic, independence...
everything the left hates.
I saw Thune on TV with Greta. He did not look very upset. He should have been livid. He is going to ask the Labor Dept to review and re-do some of the pages in the regs. At least, that is what it sounded like to me. There was really no passion in his remarks. He probably parties with some of these people.
The government has already about destroyed our children’s hopes. Child labor laws have kept kids (14, 15, 16) years old from working other than on family owned business. So what do they do if not involved in sports? Walk the streets, hang out, making themselves prime targets for drugs and drug dealers. I have a college student grandson that can’t get a job anywhere but a hamburger joint because he is only 17. No one will hire him or others his age because of all the govt. rules. Disgusting at best and criminal at worst. Now they want to do the same thing to farm kids.
The color of his skin...he's actually very light skinned because his mother was white...has nothing to do with it but the rest of it has everything to do with it.
Whatever their motive in this nonsense, if it becomes even more difficult for the family farm to operate and be profitable, more will sell out to corporate interest. Then the big corporate farms will seek cheap labor and just where might they find the cheap labor they will need?
“...for youth who work on farms and ranches on the Senate floor.”
Now I know there’s a lot of manure there and a bunch of folks that are all hat and no cattle, but I had no idea they had whole farms and ranches on the Senate floor!
Thune always acts like that, no matter what.
At least I’ve never seen him appear upset or livid over anything.
Contact another member of congress...your own or a committee chair or something...and try to get the lowdown on what is planned to counteract this rule.
I have a rep who represents thousands of farm families over his gigantic district.
He’s from Lubbock, TX, and I guarantee you it isn’t being taken lightly and will not be.
I know that just because I know it, not because I’ve talked with him about it.
It’s all over the Texas state news on all the radio and tv ag shows.
And what if the Son wants to be with his DAD in the field, what if it’s a delight for the young one to learn the work ethic of a loving father who shows him to plow straight rows, endure the Sun, and keep to the task? I guess Young Obama never had a dad to tell him how to work. He never got that lesson in life. How truly sad.
Do you seriously not know by now what Obama is?
// “ Every day, it becomes more apparent just how liberal Obama really is. “ //
This really isn’t “liberal”. This is communism.
Putting subversion in milder terms actually, not only no longer applies to the facts, but aides and abets these posers. Just sayin’- this isn’t our mom’s America anymore.
For some reason would-be totalitarians of all stripes are he11-bent on severe population reductions - hence the recent flap over universal free contraception (a more palatable alternative than the usual methods).
