FREEPER COMMENTS REQUESTED: Is it just me, or is Mary Matalin way off base today with her entire theme for the show (guest hosting for Rush). Now I normally like her work tremendously, but her idea that we should search for "virtue" in government and for "virtuous people" to be in government seems extremely naive.
The only virtue in government is its limit. We will never get a government full of virtuous people. By definition, government is power and virtuous people are not drawn to that. Our Founders knew that. This is why they insisted on LIMITED government. Wake up Mary!
If memory serves, she and James were among a handful of guests at Rush’s wedding to Marta when Clarence Thomas officiated. I have never understood that, but apparently, they are very close friends!
So we look up to our founders because they were NOT virtuous?
Washington wasn't a paragon on character?
Get a grip. Virtue is not a dirty word. If you don't want virtue, then you elect a pack of thugs from Chicago which is exactly who we have leading Gov't right now and which is why we are failing.
” 1) Is Rush trying to kill off his audience to be more fair to other talk show hosts?”
Rush 20 million listeners
Mary 200,000 (on mute)
Why don’t you go back and check my posting history to see? Nice to see my little stalker today!
BTW, I see you finally changed your mind about Glenn. ;)
ROTFL.
I hope comeone sends her this thread.
We must not naively trust "parchment barriers" (Madison) as our limits on those we elect. That is why we check their records, their associations, their lives, as indicators of the likelihood that they will exhibit fidelity to the Constitution's limitations. In other words, we want to know that they will be "virtuous" protectors of "the People's" Constitution.
Make that someone.
I like Mary Matalin, but no one wants to hear people talk about virtue in government. For more than three minutes, anyway. And her first guest was Ed Gillespie??? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Ol’ Serpenthead is on now. lol
Those who aren’t listening have missed a pretty good show.
Yes, we need both—government as limited and constrained as possible, and a free and responsible people honorable enough not to exploit what government we have.
I been watching the show as an observer as you were.
I did defend Bachmann and Cain on specific attacks but after they dropped out I was a spectator enjoying the show.
Oh my gawd. I’m listening to the EIB network as call-in guest James Carville expounds on the future prospects of the New Orleans Saints. Rush, have you lost your mind?
After 18 years on WBAP (Dallas)Mark Davis is now history. No contract renewal for Mark. He will not be missed.
I know a certain psycho Bush-bot who says that Obama is destroying this country and must be stopped who would still vote FOR him if I was the nominee LOL
me too. the serpent bride is a hoot.
That was a good call. There wasn’t much to criticize about it. They were promoting New Orleans and strong marriage/parenting, which was keeping in her theme of virtue. What’s not to like?
Very smart and sometimes hilarious!
Just pointing out a pattern I’ve noticed, and no, I haven’t, I’m listening to Glenn right now since Mary Matalin is so utterly boring.
Yes, I do think Zimmerman should sue Glenn.
“RINOs play politics like its a badminton match.”
Ha ha—funny, sad and infuriating all at once.
