New Account: Zimmerman Told Cops Trayvon's Last Words Were 'Okay, You Got It' [and more details]
Daily Beast ^ | Apr 19, 2012 | Aram Roston

-snip-
The law-enforcement source familiar with the case, who told The Daily Beast that he personally believes Zimmerman’s account, said Zimmerman has told three different law enforcement agencies his version of the events.

-snip-

Zimmerman told police officials that he lost sight of Martin and went around a townhouse to see where he was. Then he claimed Martin confronted him and punched him, knocking him down.

According to The Daily Beast’s source, Zimmerman told police that when he was on the ground, Martin straddled him, striking him, and then tried to smother him.

-snip-

Zimmerman, the source said, told officers he was so paralyzed by fear that he initially forgot he had a gun, but he said that after Martin noticed his 9mm pistol, Zimmerman pulled it out of his belt holder and fired one round, a hollow-point—the round that killed Martin.

-snip-

The source familiar with the case said that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigators had Zimmerman lie on his back in another location in an effort to recreate the position he said he had been in during the shooting. Then, the source said, investigators recorded Zimmerman as he shouted what had been heard on the 911 calls: cries such as, “Help me!”

Crump said it was not clear that Martin threw the first punch but, argued that even if he did, Zimmerman’s actions launched the entire sequence of events. “Trayvon Martin had every right to stand his ground,” Crump said. “We believe that Trayvon went to his grave not knowing who this strange man was that was approaching and confronting him.”

re: family lawyer's comments (BBM), IMO hinting at more evidence supporting Zimmerman than these race baiters bargained for.

Crump just threw the case. It sounds to me like he’s conceding Martin started the fight. His logic that event A (in a chain of events) resulted in event F is deeply flawed, and will be seen as nonsense.

No, Trayvon did not have the right to stand his ground as Capt. Zimmerman was the one who was attacked and was acting to protect his property and his Neighborhood Watch sector.

Yes indeed.

And I personally hope that Mr. No_Limit had at least a few seconds to realize he just got limited...permanently.

Which might be of significance if he was taking the case to trial, but he isn't.

Who is that little gold-teeth tattooed punk?

I thought Tryevon was a sweet little 10 yr old that wouldn't hurt fly?

Valid point. However, Corey has stated that she keeps in close contact with Crump (so he’s in the know), and given her razor thin charging document I can’t help but feel the prosecution is heading toward a nonsensical “Zimmerman got out of his truck so he’s ultimately responsible for Martin’s death” approach.

They might as well end all neighborhood watch programs if watching is the criminal action.

How many Hoodie fights began because someone looked at someone else the wrong way?

I agree with what you say but why do you keep calling George Zimmerman Capt. Zimmerman?

He was a neighborhood watch guy not a police officer or anything where he had a rank.

Just curious.

But we’re to believe that it would have been morally superior for Martin to have killed Zimmerman than for Zimmerman to have killed Martin in self defense.

Multiple news sources, including this piece, have stated that Zimmerman had attained the rank of “captain” in the neighborhood watch.

“Now, Zimmerman is wearing a gray prison jumpsuit instead of black robes, as he faces second-degree murder charges in the Feb. 26 shooting of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager who was walking home through the housing complex where Zimmerman served as a neighborhood-watch captain.”

The White House backed War on Neighborhood Watch rumbles on. The subtext is that gangsters should have free reign of your streets.

If you’ve EVER walked a night shift in a bad part of town, you know how thankless and lonely it is. As the car with 4 shaved headed thugs rolls up with pumping music, your heart starts to race. You quickly realize you are WAY under armed for a confrontation.

Those of you who have not walked a route: you really don’t know what you’re talking about.

I see. I don’t consider the rank of Captain of neighborhood watch as an official rank, therefor I don’t think he should be called Capt. Zimmerman.

Looks a bit silly IMO. But if you feel it is necessary then by all means go for it.

I think Martin had every right to stand his ground....but that does not mean attacking anyone else...and I fully believe that he attacked Z....

its a sad situation, sad that we have to have armed people protecting neighborhoods but that is what it has come down too....
