hmph rat costumes - my dad was given a job drywalling/painting at a site where a union was striking. He was an independent contractor.

There was a guy in a rat costume parading up and down with a sign that sat “rat fink” and the guy pointed at my dad when he arrived at work. Dad’s a really easy going guy and hadn’t had any issues with them - most of them knew him from other jobs....but the guy pointing at him and calling him a rat really ticked him off.

He nodded his head slow and headed in to work, in a few minutes he arrived back at the door rolling a huge can of D’con. Dad tapped the can and pointed at the costumed guy.

Had they not known him I could only imagine what would have happened. But the guys on the line all laughed and ribbed the rat guy until he took his ‘head’ off and acknowledged dad’s “deadly reply”.

Only story I’ve ever heard about my dad regarding unions. I only know it because of his work mate that day who still laughs about it. Dad could care less about union/non-union .... provided you did a good job.

Your Dad sounds like a fine fellow. They don’t grow em’ like they used to.

Hope you don’t mind, but I copied your tagline. It’s been on my mind lately.
