The name of Trayvon Martin was invoked early and often at a Capitol Hill hearing on federal anti-profiling laws Tuesday as supporters hope the furor over the shooting of the Florida teenage will prompt Congress to take up a legislation that has languished since 2001.

He was profiled, followed, chased and murdered, said Frederica Wilson, the cowboy hat-wearing congresswoman from Miami where Trayvon lived with his father. This case has captured international attention and will go down in history as a textbook example of racial profiling.

There is no way to enforce the [anti-illegal immigration] laws show me your papers provisions without engaging in stereotypes based on race and ethnicity, Anthony Romero of the ACLU told the hearing.

The Congressional Black Caucus wants LEOs and citizens in neighborhoods to fear being prosecuted for a federal crime if they call in or investigate blacks who may be committing crimes.
The open borders crowd knows that because illegals are overwhelmingly from Latin America countries, then enforcing immigration laws would be impossible.
And Islamist groups know that it would make it more difficult to prevent terrorist attacks.
Any sympathy for a grieving parent gone.
Completely. I guess I won't be buying any trademarked Trayvon "Thug" Martin goods.
MOLON LABE !!
Disgusting.
I literally want to projectile vomit Exorcist style.
I happen to support profiling. It works quite well in Israel.
Anthony Romero - ACLU
He is the first openly gay man and the first Hispanic director of the civil liberties institution.
The USA will become a much safer place when law enforcement can no longer profile certain types of suspects. /s
Instead of getting a beer on the White House lawn, under Trayvon’s Law it would appear the cop who arrested and the citizen who called police on Prof. Gates breaking into his own house would be looking at federal criminal charges.
“911, your call is being recorded to gather evidence against you.”
Zero credible evidence that racial profiling played any part in the Trayvon Martin case. But of course, that won’t cause one seconds pause by the race baiters and race hustlers, and the guilt-ridden, self-loathing white folks who respond to them.

Since when is it illegal for civilians to profile?
As long as blacks cause most of the crime in this country “profiling” overt or covert will be necessary. Write your congressman requesting that overt “profiling” be made legal beyond all doubt.
According to DOJ crime statistics:
For every white person who murders a black person, thirty-nine white people are murdered by blacks.
Blacks are only 12% of the US population but are more than 50% of the murder victims, and 90% of their murderers are other blacks.
Black males between the ages of 16 and 36 commit 50% of US murders while being less than 3% of the US population.
But it is non-Eric Holder’s people who must be punished.
I have a feeling this won’t pass Congress. Grandstanding by the thugs on the left.
She should take that stupid cowboy hat to Chi-Congo and work there.
He was profiled, followed, chased and murdered
The first two are accurate, and frankly I see no reason why you can’t racially profile someone as a pretext for following them. Especially since following is something you’re allowed to do to anyone for any reason, unless they have a restraining order against you, or something. The reason profiling is a problem, or seems like a problem, is that in the case of a pull-over, for instance, cops need probable cause. Driving while black, obviously, is not probable cause. But Zimmerman didn’t pull Martin over; so far as we know he just followed him.
That brings us to the “so far as we know” portion of my post. So far as we know, Zimmerman didn’t “chase” Martin, unless you want to suddenly call following chasing for no reason. You shouldn’t, because you already used “followed,” and adding on chase indicates that he did some aggressive following in addition to the initial following, of which we have no evidence so far as I know.
Also, he didn’t murder Martin if Martin attacked him. Unless you’re okay with calling justifiable homicide murder, which is misleading at best. We don’t know who started the fight, though we can be reasonably sure Zimmerman was losing it when he fired. If Martin did attack, then his problem wasn’t racial profiling; it was attacking. Goes to show you, hooded youth of dark complexion: they won’t necessarily kill you after profiling you, so long as you don’t commit felonies on their faces. Again, that is, if Martin attacked.
No, he was a predatory thug who was recycled after he made the mistake of attacking a properly armed citizen.
Why do gay men shave their heads all the time?
