TRUE COLORS TIME
If you listened closely to Sarah tonight on Levins program, she was pretty much endorsing Romney. I suspect she will hold her cards, wont jump into the fray until the convention, where she will get maximum exposure for her particular agenda. And then she will play the good citizen role and support Romney. Ive been worried about her since she showed up so ungraciously during the summer to rain on the parade of some of the more conservative candidates
The same applies to her as everyone else... Not fighting, not helping Newt right now, is the same as voting for Obama.
I want you to think about something... if all these people, who call themselves conservative, who want to be thought of as conservative, all joined together from Limbaugh to Sarah to Bachmann, and all the others and in one voice said, No, we wont, and worked their hearts out for Newt, starting this moment right now - instead of CYAing it; there would be no doubt who the next President would be. It would be Newt. It will still be Newt. But look what they are doing, look at the maneuvering, the shifting, the caving. In the space of a week the conservative world political and otherwise has become a cluster of Bart Stupak clones.
Even Santorum, what did he do? Faced with possible/probable defeat, he caved, he ran home. He didnt like the amount of debt he was accumulating. He couldnt see the math allowing him victory. So. He. Quit.
How does Mark Levin any of them ever complain about or criticize Boehner again? Or McConnell, or the Republican establishment? They are just as weak and spineless, just as compromised now.
True Colors Time.
America flickers, a lighthouse about to be engulfed by darkness. People are folding caving collapsing all around us, and we are being chided for not being realists
Realists on the banks of the Delaware would have tried to convince those First Patriots it was too cold, too dark, too much ice; the pragmatic thing was to wait for another day when conditions were better, the risks not so great
Exactly who is behaving like George Washington right now? And who are the cowards?
Next time..
Four years from now, they will look back and call these times carefree, like the play of children. It will never be easier than it is right now. Next time, it will be harder. Where will the repurposed courage come from then?
It is always going to require biting down hard while terror circuits through you facing annihilation; not facing impossible mathematical odds, facing annihilation.
Who will there be then to face down the kind of raw fear that cakes the back of the throat and jellies out muscles and nerves? Who? And where will they be found?
They have Newt now... experienced, battle hard, for the most part fearless, doesnt know how to quit. There is no one else now; there never was. There will be no one else the next time, if there is a next time; because next time, not even a Newt will be sufficient.
The fainting conservatives see the GOP establishment, its power, everywhere and deep, arrayed around them, able to twist events and turn people to their will the same way that American soldier saw the British fleet in Boston Harbor - as if all of London was afloat before his eyes.
Yet they carried on. A rag tag bunch, one step ahead of annihilation. It should be a song in your hearts by now.
They carried on and today I am writing to you about them. And their True Colors Time. I know everyone around us is fainting, finding excuses for fainting, trying to make their fainting seem purposed - or holy - pragmatic. But, they are still just fainting.
Fret not.
Faint not.
Fear not.
NEWT GINGRICH... The Last Conservative Standing. He Deserves Your Very Best.
You are too funny.
Newt has his own baggage. He is currently still on the ballot in my state and that is where my vote is going.
You still did not address my question so I will assume that you do not remember 1976 or the convention.
Newt in spite of what you think does not have courage ( or at least did not). He folded like a lousy poker player when Clinton shut down the government.
And by the by, Newt has a spotty history in terms of what he got through the House. Frankly, his willingness to compromise with Kennedy and Pelosi and Clinton I found appalling. Do I like him better than Mitt? No doubt about it.
But do not delude yourself. You can jump up and down all you want. You can hold your breath until you are blue. You can ‘righteously’ stay home this fall. Do all of that and it changes nothing.
If you do not have the delegates you will not get the nomination. Newt’s run this time around has been at best dicey. His early lackadaisical attitude, his outright arrogance in declaring himself the obvious candidate, to the slip shod way he ran how campaign.... all of those things cost him votes and delegates along the way.
None of the above matters either because in the end the goal MUST be
1)The maximum nu,her of conservatives in the HOuse and in the Senate
2) NO second term for the O
“Then when she admitted she wasn’t running a smaller myth was created by Newt (encouraged by Palin) that he was that one”
Newt didn’t “create a myth”. If you recall, Todd Palin called him to say he was endorsing him (TP even talked about it afterward). It was widely presumed that, considering Sarah’s such a public figure and their marriage is a close one, he didn’t do this without discussing it with her first. She also spoke out in support of Newt not long after, and although not Formally or Officially endorsing anyone as her husband did, many (including myself) looked at it as a clever way to endorse Newt via Todd without publicly boxing herself in.
“She couldnt have made it more obvious who she supported without crossing the lines as a news employee. She did her part, which was to give Newt a boost at a critical moment”
You’re absolutely right.
All I know is, I know I am at peace voting Newt to the end. Our primary has been rolled entirely, and the GOPE haven’t had to even break a sweat rolling us. Until we stop them it will never end.
They must experience defeat in 2012, or the people are serfs politically no matter who wins the general.
Down ticket voting may well be our last real voice.
It’s Newt, or Obama. Maybe we get our party back.
Yes that was very clever, just like the hundreds of ‘hints’ she dropped over 2+ years that she was running (against Romney) as a real candidate without actually saying she was running was VERY clever, Look at all the suckers that went for the bait. I watched in amazement at the time occasionally commenting ‘SHE”S NOT RUNNING’, but suckers are born that way and they are soon parted from their money.
Speaking of suckers, are you on the ‘Newt Sucker list’ ?? Because:
Newt Gingrich rents donor list to raise cash
“Who do you support? Would that someone be Ron Paul?”
Thank you for this thread and your great posts! Now it’s time for me to share the following gem with you, my FRiend, to read and use when engaging with Paul-bots (or any conservatives who may be attracted to RP) - enjoy:
