Here's a good link that talks about sashimi. Sashimi is best described as thinly sliced sea food. When rice is added it becomes sushi, although as noted before, sushi need not contain fish.

We were in San Francisco just last we and I had tuna poke at a great little restaurant. We then traveled down to San Clemente and had a full sushi dinner at our favorite place called Taka O. So far so good.
