Don’t Rely on Your Gun’s Safety.

Treat every gun as if it can fire at any time, whether or not there’s pressure on the trigger. Your firearm has been carefully designed to maximize performance and safety. However, because a gun’s safety is a mechanical device, it could fail.

Human error is a more likely reason for a gun safety to fail. By mistake, you may think the safety is on when it really isn’t. Or the safety may have been disengaged without your knowledge. Or you could think your gun is unloaded when there’s actually a cartridge or shell in it. A mechanical safety is not a substitute for common sense. It’s merely a supplement to your proper handling of a firearm.

Never touch the trigger on a firearm until you are ready to shoot. Keep your fingers away from the trigger when you’re loading or unloading. And don’t pull the trigger when the safety is engaged or positioned between safe and fire.

Before using your gun, read this instruction book to understand the exact location and operation of your firearm’s safety. Even when the safety is on, maintain control of your loaded firearm and control the direction of the muzzle. In other words, don’t rely on your safety to justify careless handling. If your firearm’s internal mechanisms are broken or have been altered, your firearm may fire even when the safety is on. Remember, you and your safe gun handling practices are your gun’s best safety.

Don’t forget - NBC is the outfit that edited the George Zimmerman 911 tape to make him sound bad, and also sabotaged the pickup truck to make it “spontaneously” explode on command.

I'm surprised they didn't load one up with dynamite and blow it up.

All guns are always loaded.
Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

NBC, long ago, ceased to be a serious and honest reporter of news. Who watches Brian “Makes Ted Baxter look like a MENSA member” Williams? They are the worst of a pathetic few.

Full Buckeye Firearms Association article on the BS NBC "report" on Remington shotguns.

"In Wednesday's report, NBC began their lengthy report on Remington's allegedly faulty trigger system with a question: 'Is there a design defect....?' Starting a report with a question can be used to introduce something innocuous or to help "shape" a conclusion."

Is Brian Williams a pedophile?

Thanks for the post. It led me to the Daily Caller website and then to their “Guns and Gear” section - which is loaded with pistol and rifle reviews as well as other gun-related articles. Worth a look for those of you, like I was, who were unaware of this feature.

There is only one ‘problem’ with Remington shotguns like the 1100 eries, they have steel receivers so they’re heavier than the aluminium ones. Some see that as a plus because we have so many interesting higher pressure shotgun rounds now available for ‘social work’. [BTW, I could use a few reccommendations on a semi auot 20 gague since I’m in the market for one unless I can find a recoil reduced 12 gauge semi.]

I have an 870 and a 30-06 model 700, both left-handed. I like Remington because they are accurate, reliable and produced in left-handed versions. I’ve had the 870 for 30 years and even though the safety is built opposite it’s right hand counterpart, it has never been a problem.

I have a Remington, Mossberg and Winchester shotgun and to be honest the best damn one of them is my 1940 something old Model 97 Winchester.

I’m a hammer man, have been since I was a kid and probably always will be. Use it almost exclusively for hunting and I’ve never, ever had a problem with it after thousands of rounds I’ve put through it almost my whole adult life.

Plus there’s the added bonus of using it as the first line in my home defense strategy - that being the incredible sound it makes chambering a round at night when you think someone might be hanging about you want to run.

No other gun quite makes the same series of clicks and clanks with that final loud “chink” at the end. I swear it would make a great doorbell ringer too, get rid of pesky salesman in a hurry I bet...

NBC has been lying to the American public and “doctoring” its so-called “news” for years. They have absolutely no credebility whatsoever. No one with any more brains that a snail believes their “pinko” slant on events. Eventually, they will go the way of the dinasours.

I’ve relied on the 870 for close to 40 years. It has never failed me. NBC failed a long time ago.

So, the lefties want to destroy Remington or at least ruin their value. One reason may be that George Sorryass would love to buy it (along with all the other firearm companies he’s purchased).

Model 870, Model 1100 and other Remington firearms have a design flaw.

Yes I've seen the NBC video.. when you attach a cherry bomb to this model and light the cherry bomb it explodes! Yes a dangerous flaw and this model should be banned.

My old Remington pump has been through more than anyone could reasonably expect a firearm to go through, and it still works perfect. It was my constant companion for years of trekking through the wilderness. It’s been beaten up by brush, rocks, falls, pack saddles, backpacks, rain, sleet, snow, dirt, rivers and countless rounds of heavy loads. I would trust my life to it in a heartbeat.

My brother had a Remington pump 20g that blew a hole in the floorboard of a cousins truck.

He wouldn’t touch a gun for years afterwards!

The people who think this isn’t real just haven’t experienced it yet and I hope you never do!

It brings the maxim about pointing guns in a safe direction to a whole new level.

Old Habits Die Hard at NBC

Posted on April 13, 2012

Only two weeks ago, NBC was caught having deceptively edited a 911 tape from the controversial Zimmerman/Martin shooting in Florida. This week, NBC accused Remington Arms Company of manufacturing unsafe firearms—specifically its immensely popular Model 870 and Model 1100 shotguns. Gun owners will also remember the hatchet job that NBC did on the Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle in 2010.

Remington and the National Shooting Sports Foundation have already set the record straight on the substance of NBC’s current accusation, so for the moment we will address the purely political issues involved, and NBC’s history of dishonest reporting to push its political agenda.

NBC coupled its accusation against the two models of shotguns with a call for all firearms to be subject to the oversight of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, something straight out of the Brady Campaign’s playbook for the last 30-odd years. Gun prohibition activists have always wanted the commission to have the power to declare all firearms inherently too unsafe to be legal for sale. The Brady outfit even called for consumer products regulations on firearms in the gun control proposals it made to President Obama in 2008.
