Notice: Free Republic has been in full rebellion mode since 2008 and will remain in full rebellion mode for the duration!

No more Doles!! No more McCains!! No more RINOS!!

NO ROMNEY!!

Those who cannot stomach rebellion might as well start looking for a new home on the net!!

Those who have ignored my hundreds of posts on this crucial issue or who have doubted me these last three or four years might as well get used to it. FR will never support the abortionist, homosexualist, socialist, mandate loving, constitution trampling liar Mitt Romney.

In case you haven't noticed, a TEA Party rebellion is on and Free Republic signed on years ago. There is no turning back. No more crap from the GOP-e!! They've screwed us for the last time!! Karl Rove and Mitt Romney, et al, loathe conservatism and loathe the tea party and took it upon themselves to use their money and connections to destroy nearly every one of our conservative tea party candidates while pushing their big government RINOS. That makes them the enemy. I will not reward that betrayal by giving them my support or my vote.

FR is and will remain a pro-life, pro-limited government conservative site!!

We are beholden to NO ONE!! We bow to no kings!! We bow to NO RINOS!!

I'd rather fight and die like a man than bend over and be screwed by a RINO!! I refuse to kiss Karl Rove or Mitt Romney's rings!! They can kiss my rosy red ass instead!!

FUMR!! FUGOP!!

Long live the rebellion!!

Hope my message is clear.

I remember when I was young and my elders explained to me that one of the main differences between our republic and the Soviet Union was in the Soviet Union people got to vote, but only for the government approved candidate.

We, of course, were supposed to have a real choice.

Can we, today, say we are offered any real choice? Are not both candidates selected by super-pacs, and media elites, who wield the real power behind the scenes.

The GOP, with its big money supporters has always tried to offer us the least conservative candidate they thought they could get away with. This year, because Obama is so far left, they have offered a candidate only slightly less socialist; knowing that our fear will force us to toe the line and vote for the lesser evil. By doing so, the GOP has made my vote meaningless and hence my participation in the process moot.

Is the only real difference between America today and former Soviet Union, the softness of the whip? If so, I am getting tired of voting for the master with the softer whip.

Romney BHO - support abortion
Romney BHO - support homosexual agenda
Romney BHO - support man made global warming
Romney BHO - support gun grabs
Romney BHO - support government mandates
Romney BHO - support big government
Romney BHO - both want to work with democrats
Romney BHO - both support welfare
Sorry, I will not support a man because he has an R after his name who supports the very things that I despise in BHO.

Exposing Romney is not bashing Romney, any more than exposing BHO is bashing him.
Unfortunately for you the exposing of Romney is revealing he is not different than BHO.

I sit her aghast that we are expounding on “ain’t it awful”, and NOT mounting a challenge to Romney with the one conservative left standing—Newt!

His enemies have always been ours, they despise HIM and they despise US. Get the picture?

Look where the GOP-E and COMMUNIST firepower has been aimed from the get-go.

THAT man is standing there waiting to lead as soon as we are through ringing our hands!

WE HAVE BETWEEN NOW AND 1144 TO REBEL IN SPADES!

So, what’s it going to be? Endless chatter of Romney, or go Galt with NEWT.

NEWT IS GALT. And, always has been.

A vote for a third party is not a "vote for Obama," it’s a vote for a third party.

Agreed. But in order to make an impact with that protest vote, we have to have a sufficient volume of people coalescing around the third party ... or it will go unnoticed. We need name recognition whether that be an individual, or a party, or "NUTS!" if need be. And we need a fair number of people committed to following through with it. I wager we'll all wait to see what rolls out for a bit yet. We have the possibility of a contested convention and an independent candidate appearing on the scene. But the time to define a solid contingency plan is decidedly now.

See post #78 where Idaho_Cowboy explains it.

We do know a great deal about Romney by his actions as Governor if MA, the terrible judges he appointed, his creating RomneyCare, the model Ibama used for his planned takeover of the healthcare industry.

Romney is a Statist, same as Obama. Statism inevitably leads to tyranny,
Romney has no vision for America, except the establishment Statist vision.

Death by firing squad or death by a thousand cuts? The Constitution is still dead.

And if you can’t figure out the point I am bringing up, I will state it clearly.

If voting for Mittens means supporting a pro-abort, pro gay marriage, gun grabber, romneycare etc etc, then what the hell does Newt saying he’d be Romney’s freaking VP mean if not that even more? I think people are kidding themselves about who Newt really is.

I am not happy to say it.

McCain not only didn’t try, he basically campaigned FOR o bama. At this moment, I knew it was all over:

So Santorum backing out when he's winning under a false or misleading pretense to hand Romney the nomination shouldn't be that much of a stretch for you after all.

It would not be any different than Romney.
I can complain or bitch all I want, we do not have a conservative running because people capitulated to the Republican establishment and it pisses me off.

You are forgetful. Most of us *did* hold our noses in 2008. We supported Sarah Palin and John McWhatsHisName. How did that work for us? The GOP moved FARTHER LEFT! Romney is on par with Hillary Clinton -- they could be running mates, except she would have to be on the top of ticket as she is by far the more competent. If that is what passes for the new and improved GOP these days, count me and every other *genuine* conservative out. Don't blame us because McCain didn't win. He didn't win because he couldn't "out liberal" the liberal Obama. The liberal with a "D" behind his name beats the liberal with an "R" behind his name in every general election. Should Romney be the candidate, I expect no less from him. I'd bet on it.

I had decided the same thing. But my son convinced me that it is better to make a showing on a ballot than not. So, Constitution Party gains a vote on the basis of the name alone.

Very well said, Volunteer. I will be taking the same route for the same reasons. I have five kids and now eight grandkids and more coming.

We must elect a strong majority in the Hosue and a majority in the Senate no matter who is elected President if we have any hope of slowing or turning this horrible slide away from our Constitutional Republic and its fundamental moral values.

If we do...and we must, and I believe we can...I do not believe Romney will be nearly the disaster that many on these boards envision. But that is my opinion and here is why.

He is a pol, and he has made very forthright and clearly understood commitments. This office will be the pinnacle of his career and he will want all eight years. To turn on these promises would be political suicide and I do not believe he will do it.

The legislature I mentioned will give him the proper acts and legisaltion to sign and he will sign it.

As such there is a very good chance in those circumstances that we will halt the slide and turn things around...our economy, the debt, foreign policy, facing up to China, the borders, supreme court justices, and with the right justices...abortion, etc., etc.

I know people who know the ROmney's and Mitt Romney is not Pro-abortion or Pro-homsexuality. He took very carefully worded positions when he ran of personally being against those things though promising to "support the law." I would not have even tried and played such games with such fundamental issues, but he did and they have resulted in this very understandable problem he has...and deserves.

HAving said all of that, we know we will get absolutely NONE OF THE POTENTIAL GOOD from the marxist ideolog, Obama. To the contrary, he will double down on every bit of his clearly leftist/marxists plans and continue to bankrupt and kill this Republic and its moral values so he can institute his command economy in place of the free market as he has planned all along.

Most people forget that Romney was elected governor in an overwhelmingly liberal state. RomneyCare is really MassCare because it was wht the people there wanted. It is quite possible, IMHO, that without Romney their plan would have even been even far worse...even though it is not acceptable as it is.

Romney said the things he did and took the positions he did to get elected. Otherwise he would not have been elected. To help understand him, look at the vetoes he made while Governor, particularly those that were immediately over-ridden by an 85% DNC legislature.

As to Justices, again, in Mass the executive has less control of the process there than the President of the United States. Anything hinting at conservative was simply rejected by that liberal legislature so he had to appoint the best he could in that environment. Is that good? No. But it is a pragmatic and realistic look at the situation he faced? Yes.

If we deliver a majority Senate, I expect we will see a completely different outcome and will get consevative, original constitutionalist justices. Again, we know there is NO CHANCE of that with Obama.

So, though it is clear Romney took liberal positions to get elected governor, and then to govern there, he did change and flip-flop on most of them when running for the GOP nomination. As he would have to. He is saying and supporting most of the right things now, and apparently he is very likely now to win the nomination. I do not like it...but there it is.

I will not do anything to help Obama in any way win this election. I will exert all of my energies to his defeat at the ballot box...and I believe we can. I am constrained to do this for my kids and grandkids so they can carry on the fight in the future. They may not have that chance with Obama in another four years. Plain and simple.

So I will support Romney if he is the nominee and I will do so like the survival of the Republic depends on it...because I believe it does...even though Romney is not anything close to my ideal candidate and i coming in fifth behind Palin, Cain, Santorum and Newt for me.

Each person has to decide for themselves, and it is a very personal and gut wrenching decision given the circumstances.

But that is my decision and the reasons for it.

Newt knew he will never be Romney’s VP selection, trust me on that at least, and he needs to quell the narrative, masterfully, that he is too fearsome, in order to be able to attract delegates, particularly northern delegates subjected to the media’s drum beat portrayal of him as a “loose cannon”.

“...be wiley as a serpent, but gentle as a dove”, comes to mind here.

What Newt is doing is to make the best of being placed in the locked down freezer. His every move and word going forward is soley calculated to delegates, who alone hold the key to our ONE. LAST. CHANCE.

Newt IS Galt.
