(Reuters) - NBC News' decision to air an edited call from George Zimmerman to police in the moments before he shot Trayvon Martin was "a mistake and not a deliberate act to misrepresent the phone call," according the president of network's news division.
The edit in question, which aired on the network's flagship "Today" morning show last week, made it appear that Zimmerman told police that Martin was black without being prompted, when, in fact, the full tape reveals that the neighborhood watch captain only did so when responding to a question posed by a dispatcher.
Under growing public pressure to explain the incident, NBC News President Steve Capus provided Reuters with the fullest explanation to date of how the edited call made it on air and what the network is doing to prevent such a consequential error from happening again.

Who buys this explanation? Anyone? From the people who brought you the rigged exploding pickup? NBC and the rest of the media had this guy already tried and convicted.

Okay, if we take these words and use them to portray what NBC has done in the past from rigging a Chevy pickup truck to catch on fire, to “sweating out” the police hero of the Atlanta Olympics bomb threat, to this editing, we would come up with the following:
“A deliberate mistake on NBC’s part was a virtual act of political correctness to represent the phone call as if one of our very own Liberal Agenda Media spinmeisters were at the scene.
This NBC Virtual App, that all of our producers and editors now use to virtualize and politically correct the news, (as we see that it is fit to print), will be available in Department Stores 6 weeks before the former Holiday called Christmas.
BTW, the launching of this new NBC App has been delayed so that its launch would follow Obama’s re-election by a respectable two weeks.”
