Obama to Make Supreme Court Campaign Issue

by Jay Sekulow, Faith Issues

There's no question about it. President Obama's warning to the Supreme Court about ObamaCare has accomplished one thing. He has assured that the Supreme Court will be front-and-center in the upcoming presidential campaign. It will be a campaign issue. A political issue.

The president's chastisement of the Justices is extraordinary. Going well beyond expressing his opinion about whether ObamaCare will survive the constitutional challenges, the president unleashed what can only be seen as a tactic to intimidate - to influence - the high court. The president argued that declaring ObamaCare unconstitutional would be "unprecedented" and labeled those who might vote against the health care law as "judicial activists."

The back-and-forth continued with the Attorney General responding to a request from a federal appeals court judge outlining the Obama Administration's position on the role of the judiciary.

I debated this issue on "America's Newsroom" on FOX News yesterday. It's clear this issue isn't going away. And, the Obama Administration has only itself to blame for this ongoing debate.

I told you that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told President Obama to "back off" on his assault against the high court. And Senator McConnell went a step further when he said: "The president crossed a dangerous line this week. And anyone who cares about liberty needs to call him out on it. The independence of the court must be defended."

Of course he is. Not only is Obamacare in jeoprady of being ruled unconstitutional, but there are several cases pending against the fraud regarding his eligibility.

I posted that Barry Obama was doing this a couple of months ago when he demanded the Supremes rush to hear the case. It’s his ace in the hole. Sure, he’d like to preserve the unconstitutional legislation, but he wants to stay in power more than anything else.

Insightful post. The only immediate obstacle standing between Obama’s desired totalitarian government and our citizenry is the U.S. Supreme Court. We can pretty much forget the Legislative Branch to do much more than complain, and the media appears silent in their subservience to the “chosen one”.

So in a addition to bragging about his stifling energy policy that has made gas costs skyrocket, the continuing unemployment mess, unprecedented debt, and weak and harmful foreign policy, Mr Obama is hoping he can rouse public outrage of the Supreme Court overturning his massively unpopular laws.

With a strategy like that, the GOP could only lose by putting up a candidate that holds all of the same positions as Obama, and fat chance of that. Oh wait.... Romney. Nuts.

Most Americans know that the mandate is unconstitutional. Obama’s die hard supporters will go along with whatever he says, but he will not win over anyone who is on the fence. This is a losing strategy. Almost as bad as suggesting that Hispanic-Jewish Democrats racially profile kids who look like they could be his son. Romney may not have to beat Obama.

I hope so. I have always wondered why the GOP Presidential candidates never have. You have 4 nitwits on that court who are cemented to the Socialist-left and that is how they will ALWAYS vote.

They tried this in 2004 by maintaining that Al Gore was robbed, and it was unsuccessful (GWB became the first president since 1988 to win a majority of votes cast).

On the other hand, hopefully the Supreme Court will re-visit the whole affirmative action debate so that we never have another Barack Obama as president; he is an ignorant token. The problem is that at least one of the justices (the “Wise Latina”) is the same thing.

If Zero does that, it’s more important than ever that Romney not be the Republican nominee.

He’d agree with Baraq.
