With all the usual caveats about early polls in play, the generally reliably trending USA TODAY/Gallup Poll has seen a rather abrupt turn in the battleground states over the past month among one demographic. Women.

But Romney’s got what voters crave... He’s got electability
Absolutely agree! Mitt is my 5th choice as nominee, but the alternative is unthinkable. I would vote for a pet rock or a grapefruit(credit to Monica Crowley) over our muslim marxist-in-chief!
Saint Rick is killing our chances in November. I hate mittens, but Saint Rick is a joke.
Like this.......
Young single women want to go on killing their unborn babies. And now they really believe evil Republicans are going to completely ban contraception. The Fluke contraception deception worked perfectly.
Saint Rick would lose even worse.
The social issues bs makes me want to scream. Birth control? FNG really???
Women voters in general are easily scammed.
**
That they are. I’m here to tell you — they’re buying this issue hook, line, and sinker. Bunches of women I know are convinced that EVIL Republicans have only one agenda ...and that is to make birth control ILLEGAL in this country.
I kid you not. They are convinced. Rational, otherwise intelligent women. This flat out LIE has worked like a charm.
But, who is surprised. America has and is going down due to this very issue at the heart of it. We’ve contracepted ourselves so much that we’ve had to import workers. We have aborted so many we dont’ have a tax paying base anymore to support all the elderly OR the freeloading immigrants. Radical feminism has done its trick on this country ...and continues to do so, destroying marriage, family, and a strong moral base. Why be surprised? Many Women are in love with themselves and their own power and new-found freedom to screw up their lives with oblivion.

A vote for Romney will be a wasted vote
Wasted? If you stay home as many here have said they will do should Romney be the nominee, it is a dead certainty your lack of a vote for the Rep candidate will be a vote for Obama. That you or anyone else would believe on the one hand this election is the most important in our history and then turn around and claim if they don’t get THEIR choice as candidate they will let America fall is to me completely off the wall and indicates a startling lack of an ability to understand the possible consequences of ones own actions, or in this case the lack thereof.
The “War on Women” paying dividends.
Dems would never win without the woman voter advantage.
Before this poll the previous polls had the rep potential nominee ahead in these States. Why doe ONE poll make this a new ball game? Not saying the birth control issue didn’t hurt but this poll was taken in the middle of a huge brohaha with Limbaugh in the middle of it all.
This will quiet down as do all spikes for any reason eventually even themselves out. This election will NOT be decided on the basis of Fed funded (read taxpayer) birth control for college students.
McLame was the last straw....Never Again!
Santorum is a bad reflection on all Republican candidates. His yammering on about having a national conversation about why contraception is "not okay" hurts all Republicans.
He reminds me of that guy who would use rufies at a party.
Romney isn’t Reagan....he isn’t even one of the Bushes.
Even the Catholics I know who are the most gung-ho about the Church’s teaching on birth control are not eager to start a “conversation” to try and persuade all other Christian churches to get on board. Such a move would clearly be too pointlessly divisive.
This guy is the most clueless, arrogant, self absorbed jerk in the history of American Politics. He will ruin us all.
Re: I sure feel like I wasted my vote when I voted for mcCain
At least you can say you did not vote for obama
Look at who ran. There wasn't a single candidate running for President that I am happy about or that the majority of Conservatives could get behind. Considering how important it is to get Obama out of office, I thought we would have a really great candidate by this point in the primary. What do you want? They all suck.
