Here, Santorum has previous form. In Iowa, he stumbled when discussing conservative opposition to welfare programmes:
"I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money."
In the face of later outrage at singling out black Americans, he insisted that he had not said "black", but instead vocalised "bleugh", as his mind became confused over his own train of thought. Believe that? Judge for yourself here.
Next thing you know they’ll say Rick Santorum was the one who shot Trayvon Martin.
Oh Dear!
JMJ.
The Guardian has lost its mind.
NOT A CHANCE.
GET REAL.
So now they are going after him for something he didn’t say?
He said, “The sheriff is near”.
Total BS.
And really, how could any logical thinker, ever believe this highly temperamental amateur could ever handle the Presidency?
Rick really doesn’t like naggers, and he was about to name Obama as one.
I wish they would call his the first “HALF BLACK” President. . . Either way, he is a disgrace to both his races.
"We know the candidate Barack Obama, what he was like the anti-war government nig..."
Santorum was contrasting "candidate" Obama to president Obama. It would be senseless to bring Obama's race into it, even if Santorum was predisposed to do so and forgot for an instant he was speaking in public.
Now it the comment had been about something that could be construed as racial I might have a different view such as.
Obama was a politician straight from the Chicago Machine, he attended the church of radical Black Liberation Church. Just another inner city nig...
Then you could make a case for it...
Since he finished his thought with the word “wrong” any REASONABLE person would jump to the conclusion that he was speaking about Obama’s NEGATIVE policies. I have never heard him use the “N” word EVER. Why would he use it in a heated campaign. I HAVE heard him use the word NEGATVE quite often when referring to Obama. This is pretty sad, especially since it probably came from the Romney/Obama campaign. This kind of stuff makes me so upset. Shame on them. When there is a “war on women” Santorum is against women. Now that there is a “war on race” santorum called Obama the “n” word. Give me a break...do they really think we are THAT stupid?
@NO_LIMIT_what?
Those British newspapers are always looking out for the best interests of the US. What, is there no news in England?
He meant to say “nagger.”
Wow, how bad is this journalism? Could this be more of a stretch to make up something to smear someone? No.
Who hasn’t mixed up sounds and words, trying to backtrack when they left something out? If anything, he was in the middle of trying to characterize Obama as a “BIG” government president, and left out the word “big.” Tried backtracking, and got the the “n” sound from government mixed in.
Now if you think that’s speculation too, it’s more probable than anything this article tried to hock.
