I suppose that we taxpayers had to pay for this damnably stupid study. Why don’t these colleges use taxpayer money to study why 3/4 of the money send to D.C. to give to the poor, never makes it to the “poor” family?
What a bunch of asshats.
Since “blacks” are only 12% of the population, I predict that if we studied Rt.66 long enough, we’d find that only 12% of the people using this highway are “black.” And you know what that means? 88% of the people using Rt. 66 are not black. I smell racism here!

Pretty sure the smugglers take the back roads other than route 66.

With the current FBI statistics on crime, this information makes Old Route 66 one of the safest roads to travel in the US.

I tell you why 97% of people on Rt 66 are white. It is because these vehicles are no good touring at highway speeds out across America.

What an immensely pointless study which never had to be done. Let's see who were the chumps who paid for it:
The study by Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, the National Park Service and the American Express Foundation. So the taxpayers of New Jersey, which is quite a few states away from Route 66 and bond investors in China shoveled out a lot of the money for it. I hope they got their money's worth.
Is the author of the study now going to analyze drivers along all the streets in the country named after Martin Luther King?

I suspect the reason the riders on the road were largely white had to do with money. It’s a luxury, and whites tend to have more disposable income.
Plus, to care about Route 66, you have to love America.
And minorities are taught to hate America.
(For the record, my father, who was an accidental American like myself, having make his home in Israel, toured Route 66 with my mother, his wife, 10 years ago -— because he loved America and wanted to see it.)

****A big report is out on the importance of Route 66****
I’ve been on that road many times. Now, most people take I-44 through Missouri to OKC, then I-40 west.
To: blam
Old Route 66 is mostly gone (replaced by I-55 and I-44), and no longer contiguous, through most of Illinois and Missouri. Many locales along the route have preserved “historic” sections of the old road, along with the requisite roadside tourist attractions.

Had a wonderful time driving what’s left of the old road. I loved going off the freeway and down the main drag of the old towns. Loved the motel signs that say “Refrigerated Air”.
