Awesome sauce!
... because it's the Court's function to rewrite the legislature's laws ....
I guess today I am an honorary member of the Show Me State. Show me the ruling.
But, but. What about the “children” that are now on their parent’s insurance? What will become of them, the poor dears?
Please get rid of this awful death care bill..
I am getting ready for my “Happy Dance”!!!!!!
All this talk of Single Payer by the libs has probably assured that the SCOTUS will strike the whole thing down. Libs are so full of themselves, they can’t keep their mouths shut. I have to thank them.
Don’t bet the farm on it just so you can play MegaMillions.
As Rush said yesterday, be wary of the justices’ words and their possible actions.
They will be striking down the most major accomplishment of Obama’s presidency, if they do.
I would be leary of thinking they would subject the first black president to such a humiliation. They will find some way to salvage a major part of the bill.
Does anyone remember Obama giving the smackdown to the Court during the State of the Union?
Payback’s a b!tch.
Regardless of what they rule, won’t it be late June before we hear the results?
But, but, but I wanted to be FORCED to buy a ‘race sensitivity on-line class’. Only the MSM left to bully us - and without the law behind them? The horror.
If Justice Kennedy and the conservatives strike down Obamacare, I fully expect us to throw nation-wide parties celebrating its demise.
Sending prayers.
If the Republicans were smart (I know, I know...) they would plan to get out ahead of the decision with a full-fledged plan to replace this abomination with a market-based, fully-portable plan that empowers individuals, and not the state to make health care decisions. And run hard on it.
“An Obama administration lawyer, urging caution, said it would be “extraordinary” for the court to throw out the entire law. About 2.5 million young people under age 26 are on their parents’ insurance now because of the new law. If it were struck down entirely, “2.5 million of them would be thrown off the insurance rolls,” said Edwin Kneedler.”
So I guess the Constitution should not matter since we have already done something not allowed by it. /s
Our founding fathers dreams and plans lay in wait for final word if the Republic, our Liberty and Freedom shall be dissolved or not. Shall we be subject to enslavement by what was once our government or not?
Is this the beginning of the road back or the end of the road for the USA?
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the court should do a "salvage job," not undertake a wrecking operation."
When the Judicial branch performs such a "line-item veto" on ANY law is nothing short of legislating from the bench (to which I'd expect this shameless little yotch to say, "So, what's the matter with that?").
On a related note, if by some miracle the Obamanation loses in November, I wonder how many aging libs on the SCOTUS will immediately resign, giving him and his 'RAT-controlled Senate the opportunity to pack the Court before he leaves office.
Smite it with furious vengeance.
This is very premature.
There are only 4 conservative justices. We’re relying on Kennedy to determine the validity of the US Constitution here.
I sure hope so! Of course, Obama will be back immediately with something equally bad, or perhaps just impose it extra-legally. Actually, it won’t be immediate, but right after his reelection (while he’s also busy selling us down the river to the Russians).
Perhaps the Justices fear the wrath of future generations who, using current and future technologies, will read their nation's history, and know that this Court's decision on this blatant "power grab" disguised in various semantic terms as related to "health care," either preserved their individual liberty, or contributed to the destruction of their freedom.
"The People" in the 1930's through the rest of the 20th Century did not have ready access to every word of the reasoned debate of the principles essential to liberty. Now, they do, and that must be a powerful motivator for this and future Courts who decide on matters of freedom versus government tyranny over individuals.
No longer will their actions be measured by current opinion, but must stand the scrutiny of being compared to the ideas of the Framers of America's Constitution.
"Posterity! you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it." - John Adams, Letter to Abigail Adams, 1777
"[Our Departed Ancestors] task (and nobly they performed it) [was] to possess themselves, and through themselves, us, of this goodly land; and to uprear upon its hills and its valleys, a political edifice of liberty and equal rights; 'tis ours only, to transmit these, the former, unprofaned by the foot of an invader; the latter, undecayed by the lapse of time and untorn by usurpation, to the latest generation that fate shall permit the world to know. This task of gratitude to our fathers, justice to ourselves, duty to posterity, and love for our species in general, all imperatively require us faithfully to perform. How then shall we perform it? At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!--All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide." - Abraham Lincoln, January 27, 1838
