With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities have revealed to the Orlando Sentinel.
That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.
Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.
In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.
Zimmerman told police he shot the teenager in self-defense.

Police have been reluctant to provided details about all their evidence, but this is what they've disclosed to the Sentinel:
Zimmerman was on his way to the grocery store when he spotted Trayvon walking through his gated community.
Trayvon was visiting his father's fiancée, who lived there. He had been suspended from school in Miami after being found with an empty marijuana baggie. Miami schools have a zero-tolerance policy for drug possession.
Zimmerman called police and reported a suspicious person, describing Trayvon as black, acting strangely and perhaps on drugs.
Zimmerman got out of his SUV to follow Trayvon on foot. When a dispatch employee asked Zimmerman if he was following the 17-year-old, Zimmerman said yes. The dispatcher told Zimmerman he did not need to do that.
There is about a one-minute gap during which police say they're not sure what happened.

More than a couple actually. I’ve been on other threads on FR where I’ve been called names or piled on by a number of “pro Tryvon” posters who want Zimmerman arrested and put “under” the jail.
It sickens how some who post on here could take a side without having the facts or giving the benefit of the doubt. They were quick to believe one side without hearing from the police, read the reports or hear what the shooter had to say. They swallowed the MSM accounts without a question.
There are many on FR who I would say are FRiends, but those who’ve posted the race card rants of the Martin family, the Sharpton gang or the NBP bounty are not what I would want as a FRiend so they can take it to the bricks.
I suggest you go drinking with a cop some time. I have a number of times, and they all say that "getting involved" is a very dangerous thing. Mr Zimmerman is done. He and his family will have to spend a long time in hiding, or leave the country. Was it worth it?
Now, there have been times where I have made a stand, but legal counsel has always been "Don't get involved". In this situation, getting out of the SUV will get Mr Zimmeran charged. It might a BS charge, but he started the contact.
Agree with your points. Reaching for a cell phone? Would Zimmerman admit reaching for his gun? No. That reaching motion triggered the response.
What is neighborhood watch? It in its broadest definition IS defense of the neighborhood! That is for all parties. Zimmerman was a agent for all parties, including the ones too lazy to get out of bed which Zimmerman covered for.

You apparently have not read the article. The witness is NOT Zimmerman. The witness is the man who made a 911 call reporting the attack. He watched this attack and a report was taken by police that night. There were other witnesses as well. You accuse Zimmerman of LYING with n basis in fact. You misstate what the article actually says. AND most egregious you appear to be defending an attacker who viciously beat another human being.

Wrong the man who made the 911 call was interviewed on the radio. He specifically stated that he saw the punch and Zimmerman fall and that he ran into the house to call 911.
The police have investigated. The reports will come out at the grand jury. My comment still stands....you watch too much TV

Really? Nice to know the cops you drink with aren’t involved in any of the neighborhood watch efforts. In our city, Neighborhood Watch is supported and aided by our local police.

Fact witnesses state Zimmerman was on his back and getting hit.
Fact, Zimmerman had blood from his head.
Fact FL law our laws here state that you are legal to shoot someone if you are thinking your life is in danger.
Fact it’s not illegal to follow someone.
Fact it is illegal to attack someone.
I wonder how many of those people if they were ion the ground getting whacked and having your head slammed into the ground would just lie there and take it when they have a gun or a knife to protect them and know the law is on your side.

Oh I see so in your book if someone reports somebody is acting strange that is proof of criminal behavior? I never wrote that Zimmerman had no reason to call the police just that there was no evidence a crime was being or had been committed.
I do not dispute a fight occurred I dispute relying on Zimmerman and conflicting eye witness accounts to arrive at the facts which lead to that fight.
