I suggest you go drinking with a cop some time. I have a number of times, and they all say that "getting involved" is a very dangerous thing. Mr Zimmerman is done. He and his family will have to spend a long time in hiding, or leave the country. Was it worth it?
Now, there have been times where I have made a stand, but legal counsel has always been "Don't get involved". In this situation, getting out of the SUV will get Mr Zimmeran charged. It might a BS charge, but he started the contact.
Really? Nice to know the cops you drink with aren’t involved in any of the neighborhood watch efforts. In our city, Neighborhood Watch is supported and aided by our local police.
You obviously know nothing of the law. You obviously know nothing of the neighborhood watch programs
“Don’t get involved”
All it takes for Evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.
Of course the police and legal authorities want you to not get involved. They like the rise in crime. It justifies their existence and makes their calls for more pay seem reasonable.
When we do things the way that law enforcement wants us to then we usually see crime go through the roof like in NYC or Detroit. The police are a enforcement agency and are never around when the crime is taking place. They show up after the events and write notes and HOPE to catch the guilty. When seconds count the police are minutes away.
I would rather be responsible for my own safety than wait on some union dude in a blue uniform and a badge to leave the doughnut shop and take time to clean up my dead body before he clocks out for the night.
If you think like a coward you will live the life of the coward.
As for myself and many others we draw a line in the sand and make our stand.
Then explain why Trayvon (and his ilk) are still in public creating havoc?
Are we (as humans) to become spineless and defer our responsibilities to family, friends and humanity to cops who do nothing but turn potential and "criminals in fact" to the legal system who has a VERY STRONG bias to turn them loose back on society.
