Police: Zimmerman says Trayvon decked him with one blow then began hammering his head

With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who eventually shot and killed the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities have revealed to the Orlando Sentinel.

That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.

Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.

In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.

I've seen this repeated in discussion forums but haven't been able to find a source. The only reference I can find about his father's occupation is that he is retired military man. Can you point me to a source?

Close. The NYT is reporting Zimmerman as a white hispanic. They are trying to foment a black on white race war by completely ignoring, or covering up, that Zimmerman is half hispanic.

Watch for the next 'newsworthy' incident where a white can be blamed for 'crimes' against a hispanic. it will demonstrate how even with our first post-racial, magical black Pres__ent, we can never overcome just how violent, racist, and evil whitey is.

Where is the outrage when black young men are being murdered by other young black men? Many children are caught in the crossfire by drive by shootings in the urban areas, and many murders are being committed by 17 year old black “youths” that may look like Obama’s son. Why hasn’t there been outrage by black leaders over those?

He called 911 where there was a 911 operator which is different from a police dispatcher. Again, the Sanford PD (in their own statement to the public) said the 911 operator did not command Zimmerman but only suggested he not follow Zimmerman.

I heard right on the audio that he said he was returning to his truck after Trayvon fled into the darkness. He then concluded his call with 911. You might go back and listen to Zimmerman’s call again if you even did it the first time.

Zimmerman never stopped him. When Zimmerman got out of his SUV Trayvon ran off into the darkness. He told the 911 operator he was heading back to his vehicle and then ended the call. That’s when Trayvon came back and attacked Zimmerman.

I don’t mind a busy body in my neighborhood if he/she is looking out for possible bad guys. Trayvon was dressed like thug, acting suspiciously or on drugs (he did get suspended for 10 days because of drugs), and attacked Zimmerman like a thug.

Have you ever worked retail store? If the store employees suspect a customer is possibly shoplifting they constantly busybody the person until they leave by going up to them. If the potential criminal knows there are eyes constantly on him/her they are going to go elsewhere to victimize another place.
