Several sources confirmed for WFTV that Sanford police thought Zimmerman should have been arrested for shooting and killing 17-year-old Martin.
Sources said Sanford police recommended State Attorney Norm Wolfinger review a possible manslaughter charge against Zimmerman.
“Why would Norm Wolfinger sit on this?” Jones asked WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer.
“From my experience, it's possible he didn't have enough evidence, and once you make an arrest, the speedy trial clock starts,” said Sheaffer.
That clock means Zimmerman has the right to go to trial within 175 days of his arrest. According to Sheaffer that would have put prosecutors in a bind to hurry and gather enough evidence to make the charge stick.
“Several sources have confirmed for us that Sanford police turned over an investigative summary packet that included a charge of manslaughter. Can you confirm that?” Jones asked lead prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda.
“I'm not going to confirm or deny anything other than what I've told you,” said De la Rionda.
De la Rionda is the lead prosecutor now in charge of the investigation that will determine if Zimmerman will be charged.
“We're going to get to the truth, one way or another,” said De la Rionda.

sounds to me like he chased the kid down, initiated the confrontation, and then pulled a gun when he realized he was getting his a55 kicked. Sounds to me like Martin was the one standing his ground.
My feeling is, GZ is telling the truth, and they know it. Maybe this leaves some wiggle room, but not much. Goodness knows that I don’t know, but this hysteria is nothing but a lynch mob mentality.

You should call the Sanford Police and let them know you've got it all worked out, and that they should throw away all their crime scene evidence and witness statements, and not rely on duly enacted laws but your opinion instead.

But who started the physical altercation? Could Martin have attempted to disarm Zimmerman, who was found bleeding from the nose and head, according to the local FD?
Just because one is being followed or watched in a closed neighborhood, would that give Martin the right to physically attack Z?
You realize people die every day in this country due to blows to the head, right?

Do you realize that this event happened almost a month ago? On February 26?
Ask yourself, "Why is it suddenly news now?"
Could it be because:
a. Trayvon Martin is black...
b. George Zimmerman sounds "white"...
c. And somebody who was unfamiliar with the facts of the as-yet-undetermined-crime needed a distraction?
Moreover, the event was doubtless reported in Sanford at the time. Were there any demonstrations before national media attention, Rev. Al and Calypso Louie arrived?
I'd like to know the answer to that question.
And I'd also like to know how the national media became aware of the story...and why they decided to promote it almost a month after the fact.
And this "young punk" was 6' 2", 200 lbs, and Zimmerman not even 5' 9".

not defending this horrible thing at all....but people have not been charged for much more....cops seem to get away with a lot of shootings just on their word alone...

Whole thing stinks, something not right. Someone ,somewhere, found this story and ran with it, and Now more People going to die.
Zimmerman has a broken nose and lacerations on the back of his head. The back of his jacket was wet and covered with grass stains.
There was no "standing your ground" baloney here. This was a full on battery by Martin against Zimmerman. Zimmerman could not retreat because Martin was sitting on him and pounding his face with his fists.
