In remarks after President Obama made his first public comment on the matter, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum said Friday that the handling by Florida law enforcement of the Trayvon Martin case has been horrible and that the states Stand Your Ground law should not apply to the shooter, George Zimmerman.
Well, Stand Your Ground is not doing what this man did, Santorum said Friday morning at a campaign event in Monroe, La. Theres a difference between Stand Your Ground and doing what he did. And its a horrible case. Its chilling to hear what happened, and of course the fact that law enforcement didnt immediately go after and prosecute this case is another chilling example of horrible decisions made by people in this process.
Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighborhood watch captain, has not been charged in the shooting.

Newt mentioned the “Stand your ground” issue but made the distinction that if Zimmmerman was following him then it likely wouldn’t apply. He did NOT badger on about how the case was being handled by the authorities as Santorum did...and Obama implied....he has more respect for the authorities to do their job and then see what the evidence shows or not.
However he was on Neighborhood Watch...and according to the recorded call to the police, when they told him they didn’t want them to follow him he stopped...and it was for only a few seconds while he was on the phone with them that he did so.
The questions are what happened after the phone call....and that’s not clear yet.
Guess so, spelled not wrong. lol

Lurk before you leap, Noob.
Actually, he’s dead right on this one-and as conservatives, I had presumed that a major priority was justice for the victims and ensuring sleazy defense attorneys and their clients dont get away with self defense excuses, and ensuring the police go after these gangsters to the full extent of the law. Even though this is a case where many so called “civil rights” leaders will spin it into a race issue nonstop, thsi should be no different.

“Seriously, you think the Post would just make up quotes when Santorum could easily prove he didnt say it?”
Please excuse the Santorum people. They are so desperate to get rid of Obama, that they have thrown all reason to the wind. Its almost like they are in a horror movie where aliens have taken over their minds. Whatever Santorum says, they hear something completely different. Then they revise what he “meant” to say. They think that thing he wears is a super hero cape, when it is actually just a sweater vest. When Santorum starts rambling and talks in circles, they think he is Ronald Reagan. It is very sad and we are hopeful they will recover soon.
THANK You! This is what I knew but couldn’t find a pic. Besides that, he was nearly 6 feet tall and a football player. He was no little kid sippin’ tea.
Zimmerman is being set up huge. He is from a racially mixed family. So where is Marco Rubio to defend his fellow hispanic in his home state?

Not 2 a.m.
Did you hear Newt's comments?
The audio tape is a prosecutors wet dream....”self defense” doesn’t involve CHASING DOWN the suspect. Gives O-jackass another tool to screw law-abiding gun owners.
Political points indeed. Frankly, this whole thing is being played as a big opportunity to paint white people as trigger-happy racists. And, of course, the only way to “atone” is to re-elect Obama. The fact that Zimmerman is a multiracial Hispanic is lost as his name sounds German.
It really doesn’t matter people. Look at these damned asses.

“The police operator told him not to follow Martin and let the cops arrive to handle the situation.”
I keep seeing this statement get posted and hearing it made, but the fact is the 911 operator told Zimmerman “we don’t need you to do that” when Zimmerman responded that he was still following Martin after being asked by the 911 operator. I didn’t hear on the 911 tapes that the operator said don’t follow him, just that “we don’t need you to do that, the police are on the way”. “We don’t need you to do that”, and “don’t follow” have two very different connotations...
Yes, it is parsing, but Zimmerman also told the 911 operator that they always get away... In my mind that changes things a bit (based on all the other reports of increased crime in the area).
What audio tape are you talking about? He had told the dispatcher he was following the guy, the dispatcher said “We don’t need you to do that.”
Zimmerman then informed the dispatcher that he had lost sight of Martin and was headed back to his truck when he was attacked from out of nowhere. His calls for help were recorded on the 911 tape.
Witnesses saw him being beaten but no one helped him.
AND FWIW, I don’t think this would have gotten past the local news if whoever brought this on KNEW that ZIMMERMAN was not white, but hispanic.
They jumped at his NAME because it sounds European and even possibly Jewish. Maybe sounded skinheadish. Or neonazi. They thought they had them a winner. But what they HAVE is a chubby, light brownskinned hispanic who was only watching out for his neighbors, some of whom were black. OOOOO. What bad guy he is.
Shame on all those who don’t bother with facts. I want to see forensic pics of Martin’s knuckles.
Maybe he's a Russian Hispanic and part Apache. Why don't you do the genealogy on him?
You must be on the east coast, all worried about that. I mean, WTF??
Zimmerman and his wife served as mentors to two teenage children of an African-American woman.
Though funding was cut for the program, the couple continued their efforts on their own, taking the 13-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy on outings to a mall, a science center and a basketball game.
They also helped in a fund-raiser for an African-American church.
“I do not believe that’s the indication of a person who’s a racist,” His attorney stated. “I don’t see anything that indicates to me that he’s a racist.”
Zimmerman’s his nose was broken; he sustained injury on the back of his head he sustained a cut that was serious enough it probably should have had stitches,”
This crap is going to backfire on these racebaiting gangters huge. And I’m still waiting for the hispanic community to shake off the cobwebs. THIS is what racebaiting dems DO!
I mean think about it. Had they KNOWN Zimmerman was hispanic, would ANYONE be talking about it today? What if Zimmerman was not only hispanic, but gay? Just a thought.
PS, I fully realize that my sense of humor is a tad warped...but just think about the ramifications of throwing a gay hispanic under the bus for holder’s peeps. Who do you appease first?
Pubbies should have stayed wayyyy back from this until the facts were in. I was so sorry to see Allen West jump in this with both feet.
I fixed it for you; you're welcome.
It is nice to know you can declare guilt without all the facts and in spite of reports Zimmerman has a wound in the back of his head and Martin was on top of Zimmerman; beating him.
So much for innocent until proven guilty. Maybe, just maybe the police and DA happen to know a little bit more than we do (or maybe they don't know enough) and that's why they haven't arrested Zimmerman.
Not at all. We got to see a facet of the man that isn't poll-tested. These moments are pretty revealing.
