President Barack Obama weighed in on the "tragedy" of Trayvon Martin's death last week, saying it is "absolutely imperative" that all levels of government investigate "every aspect" of how the unarmed boy was shot.
"I can only imagine what these parents are going through," Obama said, adding "When I think about this boy I think about my own kids."
"I am glad that not only is the Justice Department is looking into this, but the Governor of the State of Florida has put together a task force [to investigate the case]," Obama said. Obama carefully avoided any discussion of George Zimmerman, the man who shot Martin, and has controversially avoided arrest under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" self-defense laws.
"My main message is to the parents: If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon. I think they are right to expect that all of us as Americans are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves."
How sad...
These thugs were given the support they needed...from the POTUS of all people! What a shame!
With this statement Obama is entering territory that will lead to very tragic consequences for America.
Or? It will cost him the election
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I hope so. You are ever the optomist!
he is also fanning the flames that right wing, white people want to kill Obama...the identification with this kid...
that goes to that racist narrative about how everyone wants to kill Obummer...
Well, truth to tell, it could be both.
You are, of course, correct in that people will stick to others of similar backgrounds. But the problem, imho, is not “multiculturalism” (depending on what you definition of that is, I may be thinking differently) per se, but that we’re taught the old “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal.” I grew up and went to school with people of a wide assortment of ethnic and religious backgrounds, and I learned a lot about where people come from, and their view points. It has served me well, because I don’t stop my ears and chant whenever I hear something I don’t like, or agree with, or even understand.
However, I never swallowed the “relativist view” that all viewpoints have equal worth. They don’t. I don’t have to engage in, understand, or accept deviant behavior before passing judgement upon it. I don’t have to modify my behavior because someone wants me to accept theirs. I do let people behave how they choose, without interfering if it’s not hurting or infringing upon someone else, but many “quasi-conservatives” can’t get passed letting people make, and learn from, their mistakes/choices.
That having been said, if what you mean by the liberal sense of “multiculturalism” is that we have to elevate people above us, in order to accept them, or use things like gender and race quotas and affirmative action, etc., then in that use of the word, YES it is absolutely destroying our country. The fact is that 99%+ of all social problems we have today (yes, there’d be new ones) would be solved by getting government OUT of the ungodly, unconstitutional meddling places it has weaseled its way into. If we have liberty and justice, for all, people can get ahead, and fall behind based on their willingness to get out and do something, not by how expert they become at sucking the government (”robbed from taxpayers”) teat. Sadly, “justice” has been misused by the liberals to mean “dominance.”
You should forward the details of your conversation to Rush. If someone like him suggested everyone call their local newspapers and have a similiar conversation, it might have an interesting effect.
witness claims TRAYVON attacked Zimmerman: Anonymous onlooker told police neighbourhood watch captain was provoked...

Sonner says his client was injured that night with a broken nose and a serious cut on the back of his head. He said the injuries were from Trayvon Martin, I assume.

“I read he was on a 5 day suspension from his school when the incident occurred. Not sure why he was suspended.”
I read somewhere that it was for 10 days, pretty severe and usually reserved for violations like fighting at school. In this case he brought an ambush and a set of knuckles to a self defense gun fight! Dumb shiite(sp)!!

I think he’s saying the kid would have gigantic ears.
“That man is TRYING to foment racial civil war. This is unbelieveable. Can he really be that stupid, or is this intentional?”
It’s intentional because without his base, he doesn’t stand a rat’s patootie of being re-elected!

“Blacks shoot other black everyday in his old Senate district in Chicago.
Why doesnt he comment on that?”
Simple - those gang bangers don’t vote!

Puckett, 35, is scheduled for execution by lethal injection on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Puckett, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout, was convicted of sexually assaulting and killing his former boss wife when he was 18.”
Another possibility is that they wanted to denigrate the Boy Scouts, by tying the organization to the crime. Just like they can’t wait to point out a military connection when a shooting death occurs.
“Then shoots a kid with skittles!”
This statement alone shows how ignorant you are of the situation, and how infected your mind is with MSM propaganda.
Educate yourself, then come lecture us about how “racist” we are all are.
“Is this a tragedy? You bet. A young black boy is dead, and several other people are about to have their lives ruined, courtesy of Al Sharpton, Barack Obama, and the Sanford City Council.”
Please ‘splain how the Sanford City Council (or the police for that matter) is responsible for any of this!
Is it possible that are just blaming everyone to sound “smart”?

“...but theres a large section of society that questions why a person of such and such race is in a place they dont belong.
And a lot of those people come to the kneejerk reaction that this is racism.
If an unfamiliar face is seen in a neighborhood, a kid in a hoodie, white or black or whatever, by a neighborhood watch captain whose job it is to look out for suspicious strangers, then obviously that kid is going to arouse suspicion.
And couple that with a gangsta culture which celebrates lawlessness and the thug life, one would have to be an IDIOT not to be suspicious.
Let’s not be naive here, and act like it’s our first day on the planet.
“It would seem the victim shouted for help prior to the gun shot, but it also couldve been the perp (on neighborhood watch) calling for help”
What a dumb post! The victim was indeed shouting for help, but he wasn’t the perp! The perp was on top of the watch guy beating the crap out of him and got shot for it! Get a clue dude!
JC
“Having said that, how is it that a person on neighborhood watch has a gun? The 911 person told him to back off. He refused and looks like he wanted to be a hero. Based on what I know of this case, the shooter shoul be in jail awaiting charges. Such a sad incident.”
You are part of the problem. A dispatcher (having no authority) told Zimmerman that they did not “need him to do that”. That was NOT an order, and you should be ashamed of yourself for saying otherwise! Get a clue dude!
JC
Evidently you don’t know anything. Up to now, though it will probably happen later, one cannot be put in jail to”await charges”. One is first charged with said crime, arrested and jailed awaiting trial. The Constitution of th United States forbid the former. But since the Constitution now only applies, and your President has the two laws that Congress passed for him, your scenerio could happen any day. That should make you happy then.
“vendetta”, “shot gun”, “racist”??
You should be ashamed of yourself for making up pure crapola!!

All of the following are from events taking place in New York City's Union Square on 14th St in Manhattan. Workers World Party's main headquarters is 4 or 5 blocks from there. Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) also involved.
