Rick Santorum's latest attempt to use a Mitt Romney aide's "Etch-A-Sketch" remark against the Republican front-runner instead gave his rival a chance to fire back on Thursday, after Santorum seemed to say he'd rather see President Obama reelected than send Romney to the White House.
Speaking at an event in Texas, Santorum again made the case that Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom's comments Wednesday on CNN about a "reset" of the campaign if Romney clinched the nomination showed the former Massachusetts governor's efforts to appeal to conservatives were insincere.
"You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who's just going to be a little different than the person in there," Santorum told a crowd in San Antonio, according to NBC News. "If you're going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch-A-Sketch candidate of the future."

Instead of an “Etch-A-Sketch”, Little Ricky should have had a coonskin cap, in memory of the siege of the Alamo.

The remarks by Santorum the past couple days will define him forever. He is behaving like the spoiled brat we all knew in school.
He is a SORE LOSER!!!

To vote for Obama is un AmericanAgreed.
you could also turn this comment around and say that the crowd is so anti- Romney that they would vote for Obama. (staying home is a vote FOR Obama) People have died so that we can vote. to not exercise our vote is un -American.
I'd vote third party. (Besides, there's other races than POTUS...I don't advocate "staying home.")
And no, voting third party is NOT a "vote for Obama" -- anymore than when an eventual candidate of some "re-reformed" Republican party 20-30 years from now runs to the left of Obama ... and if my offspring doesn't/don't vote for him...no, that wouldn't be a vote for the Dem candidate then either...
But, go ahead. Train your kids & grandkids to be liberals in (R) clothing. Train them that they are "doing the right thing" as long as they vote against the (D).
Go ahead...vote in socialists lite to defeat socialists heavy...you socialist-lite lovers.

Good job, I am so proud of you.
And..I was the biggest Santorum supporter until he made these liberal jealous remarks.

Ultimately, were at fault for allowing the perpetuation of the scum thats inhabiting the GOP.
It's important to look at the past and to accept responsibility - I fully admit to having voted for most of the RINOs that have gotten the GOP nomination since 1988, but ultimately we will be at fault if we continue to support those types.
If we don't start breaking with the RINO scum now, then people will say it'll be better in 2016, but then 2016 rolls around, and we'll be right back to having the same type of RINO scum floating to the top, and people will say it'll be better in 2020, and the cycle will continue to perpetuate itself.
Every Conservative will have to decide for themselves if they truly are Conservatives, or if they are going to let themselves be used and to keep on pulling the lever for somebody simply because they have an (R) next to their name.
For me, I think it's my grandchildren that are driving me. If, God forbid, Romney got the nomination, I could not look them in the eyes and tell them I'm a Conservative if I voted for him.
I've seen a few FReepers say that if Romney gets the nomination and we don't vote for him, we are throwing our votes away. I'd say to them that they are the ones wasting their votes, because they are bending over for a RINO who is going to get his ass handed to him by Obama and the MSM.

The answer is as president I am loyal to the USA and any actions I take as president is only for the good of the USA, as an individual, any actions I take is for the good of my family and God.
Romney thinks the head of the mormon church is a prophet of God. You really think he will set aside the mormon church for the United States of America?
To: nandrew
People have died so that we can vote. to not exercise our vote is un -American.
Amen to that. If Romney gets the nomination, I may not vote for him, but I'll vote nonetheless, for the most conservative candidates on the ballot.

dfwgator What do you think Romney is more loyal to, The LDS, or the USA? Let's rephrase it:
Who do you think Romney is more loyal to, CHRIST, or the USA?

"Any Latter-day Saint who denounces or opposes, whether actively or otherwise, any plan or doctrine advocated by the 'prophets, seers, and revelators' of the Church is cultivating the spirit of apostacy..."
(Improvement Era, June 1945, p. 354)

MP3 File
This is the audio clip of Dallin H. Oaks, current Mormon Apostle leader, from the PBS documentary, "The Mormons", declaring unequivocally:
"IT'S WRONG TO CRITICIZE LEADERS OF THE (MORMON) CHURCH, EVEN IF THE CRITICISM IS TRUE."
Don't criticize?

And here:
Temple Recommend Questions:
1 Do you have faith in and a testimony of God the Eternal Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?
2 Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Christ and of His role as Savior and Redeemer?
3 Do you have a testimony of the restoration of the gospel in these the latter days?
4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?
5 Do you live the law of chastity?
6 Is there anything in your conduct relating to members of your family that is not in harmony with the teachings of the Church?
7 Do you support, affiliate with, or agree with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
8 Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?
9 Are you honest in your dealings with your fellowmen?
10 Are you a full-tithe payer?
11 Do your keep the Word of Wisdom?
12 Do you have financial or other oblgations to a former spouse or children? If yes, are you current in meeting those obligations?
13 If you have previously received your temple endowment:
Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple? Do you wear the garment both night and day as instructed in the endowment and in accordance with the covenant you made in the temple?
14 Have there been any sins or misdeeds in your life that should have been resolved with priesthood authorities but have not been?
15 Do you consider yourself worthy to enter the Lord's house and participate in temple ordinances? |
Oh, they can say that their leaders were NOT speaking for GOD when they said WHATEVER but that's NOT the same as criticizing!
( Remember fellow Christians: the Mormon's criticize US because they've been taught that they CAN'T criticize ANY of their leaders; so they HAVE to vent somehow! )

“And then they will be in here pissing and moaning that obama won.”
I agree. Let’s see - the biggest issue dividing the nation leading up to 2008 was Amnesty - so who do WE choose, a pro-Amnesty candidate. Now the biggest issue dividing the nation leading up to 2012 is Obamacare - so who do WE choose, who else, but the ARCHITECT of Obamacare.

I know.
If it weren’t absolutely necessary to save the country from a committed Marxist I would find the thought repugnant myself.
In fact I do find it repugnant anyway, but it must be done.
To: Colofornian
I was too young back then.
You miss the point. Are you going to vote for some third party guy who doesn’t stand a chance of beating Obama? That is how we got Woodrow Wilson and Bill Clinton.
Anyway we are discussing the general election not the primaries so Bob Dole doesn’t compute.
