Last weekend in the city of Chicago alone, gangbangers slaughtered ten people and wounded another forty. The youngest fatality is only six years old. The youngest person wounded is only one-year-old. Many of the victim were pedestrians sprayed with bullets in drive by shootings. The national news has said nothing about this.
So why does one shooting in Florida warrant weeks of national news? Why has there been thousands of articles a day, for the last four days, about one single shooting?
Almost all of the news items about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin contains a combination of false statements, opinions presented as facts, transparent distortions, and a complete absence of some of the most relevant details. Almost all news items are written soley from the point of view of the grieving family. The media also fills their articles with outdated baby-faced pictures of Trayvon. Very few include that he was a towering 6'2” football player. Is the media really reporting the news, or is this classic agitation/propaganda to advance a political agenda.

I still haven't seen a full explanation of what Trayvon Martin was doing out and about late at night.
One statement said he was from Miami. Another said he has a juvy history and was on suspension at the time of the incident. Another said he lived in the subdivision. His mother said he went to the store because he was bored. Bored? What does that mean?
The Sanford city manager in his statement referred to an "arrest record" for Zimmermann. Anyone ever taken to city jail for a traffic stop has that. The statement does not clarify what that "arrest record" entailed, or whether it was material. If a police officer runs a guy to jail for having a gun despite being a CCW licensee, that is still an "arrest".

But, but, my local paper is running a picture of the ‘teen’ and he looks like he’s ten years old in the picture.
Is it possible my local paper is unaware that the ‘teens’ picture (the real one - of how he looks today) is on the internet? The only folks being ‘fooled’ are the elderly who don’t use computers. The rest of the people have started trusting the press LESS than before... Less than before - trust running on par with used car salesmen...

I agree that that comment caused a lot of people to not vote for him, but the lesson there for all of us, despite the “Lesser of two evils” canard, is that until and unless a truly viable, competitive Third Party comes along, we will have to deal with Democrats and Republicans.
In that context, voting against the Democrat is the best we can do, given that we have not been able to get a Real Conservative through the nominating process in recent election cycles.

All of my adult life, I have longed for a Presidential face-off between a LIEberal and a Real Conservative.
I am almost 71 years old, and I doubt I’ll ever get my wish fulfilled.
