The Peyton Manning sweepstakes came to an end Monday when the free agent quarterback informed the NFL teams pursuing him that he intended to sign with the Denver Broncos.
The resolution of where Manning, one of the most high-profile free agents in pro football history, will play next immediately rippled through the ranks of NFL quarterbacks. The Broncos seem intent on trading quarterback Tim Tebow and speculation immediately focused on the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars. A trade to either team would send Tebow back to the state where he won a Heisman Trophy and two collegiate national championships at the University of Florida.
Manning had narrowed his choices to the Broncos, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers. He informed Broncos front office executive John Elway, the franchises Hall of Fame quarterback and two-time Super Bowl winner, on Monday morning that he planned to play in Denver. Other teams also received word of Mannings decision, a person familiar with the deliberations said.
Mannings agent, Tom Condon, was working to apply the finishing touches to a contract with the Broncos. No last-minute breakdown in negotiations was expected because the teams on Mannings list of finalists understood that it would take a deal in the range of $90 million over five seasons to sign him, according to the person close to the situation.

I live in Denver and your impression is wrong. Tebow has a large and passionate fan base here. As a bronco fan since the days of Floyd Little I can tell you I now have a new favorite team....the one that ends up with Tebow. I hope The Broncos go 0-16 this year and Tebow takes his new team to the super bowl. It will be richly deserved on both sides
The only one here who really hates Tebow is Elway. I guess the fact that being around Tebow daily reminding him what a miserable moral failure he is got to Elway
Think Gingrich vs. Santorum.
What a load of crap.
I guess the fact that being around Tebow daily reminding him what a miserable moral failure he is got to Elway
With that lack of acumen you sound like a democrat.
Apparently you're quite oblivious to Tebow's Jekyll and Hyde performance as a NFL quarterback.
How many Super Bowls did that head case Frank Kush win?
hey, Hey, HEY, just because it's true doesn't mean you should rub it in.
So here’s Elway, who famously said “he didn’t want to play in cold weather” as his excuse for turning down the Baltimore Colts to go to Denver. As a result the Colts leave Baltimore in the middle of the night for Indianapolis and keep the Colts name. Elway eventually becomes a success for a couple of seasons and Manning eclipses him in Indianapolis. Elway dumps Tebow for Manning. I hope they (Elway and Manning) fail miserably.
Heard a joke on Boortz today:
This is the first time in NFL history where a team makes a virgin sacrifice to try to win a championship.
I don’t much blame Peyton Manning. He acted in what he believed was his best interest, and being capitalists who amongst us can fault him for that. I do fault the Broncos organization, the leftist secular progressive shills passing themselves off as sports journalists, etc, for agitating the problem, and Elway for giving in to pressure. If word is correct, Tebow’s going to the Jets, a team with a proud tradition that he could grow in. Yeah NY is a liberal city sure, but they will respect and appreciate his talent at least.. Let Denver take a 36 year old washed up has-been. The future belongs to guys like Tebow...
