Senior US officials told the BBC the name of the suspect as he was heading back to the US to face charges. He is being flown to Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas, from Kuwait. His lawyer, John Henry Browne, said on Thursday that the suspect was a 38-year-old man who had been injured twice while serving in Iraq. He also said the accused had witnessed his friend's leg blown off the day before the killings. That incident has not been confirmed by the US Army. The Taliban called off peace talks in the wake of Sunday's deadly rampage - in which men, women and children were shot and killed at close range. The US has stressed it remained committed to Afghan reconciliation. Afghan President Hamid Karzai has also reacted angrily to the killings. He told the US it must pull back its troops from village areas and allow Afghan security forces to take the lead in an effort to reduce civilian deaths. On Friday he said the US was not fully co-operating with a probe into the killings.

Obama has a withdrawal date and we are training the Afghans to defend theirselves from the Chinese? this sounds like one hell of a mission.
The heroin goes where? laundered and drugs sold to? I am wondering more and more about this scenario...it sounds dirty.
Remember the blood for oil and the writings by Claudia Rossett? on how the UN was involved with taking money by the millions? Kofi Anan and his son? also, other nations and companies involved? some were our allies...became rich and looks like they got away with it. Anan should have gone to prison.
Thank you for sharing that information with us. I will pray for this soldier’s family and for a fair trial.
One of the Leavenworth 10 735...
I will most certainly keep them in my prayers. When I heard the words” traumatic brain injury” I wondered how he could have been cleared for duty. This particular injury alters and ultimately changes everything..normal processing..personality etc. But with all of the deployments..it would seem that the powers that be are more concerned with “warm bodies” for deployment rather than the health of our service members.

Thanks for the ping Girlene.
The news reports have been all over the place on this story.
It’s one soldier, it’s several soldiers, a helicopter was involved, shooting victims were burned after they were shot, it was drunk soldiers laughing as they were shooting. None of it makes any sense. Something stinks about this.
I’m reserving judgement just like we should with all such incidents until more factual information and hard evidence is known.
If it can be proven that the shooter acted alone without orders and not in selfdefense, then all bets are off. In the meantime, I’ll pray for the Sgt. and his family.
All right. My dreams have come true. My first internet stalker really is you...
I contend there is plenty we still do not know.
What I like most about you. You are a contender...

I paid with two death sentences for the privilege of becoming an American...
Your posts are excellent. My prayers are with Bales and his family.
I haven’t heard anything like that, Velveeta.....and thanks for reminding me I forgot to ping jaz to my original post 69. Where are my manners?!
Rich unnamed Asian supposedly helped fund the 9/11 terrorists too, but I read it here at FR. Since 0bomber is a Chinese agent, (remember the deep kiss with an unknown Asian women at the closed Disney World), clearing the playing field MO, Afghanistan is payoff to the Chinese. Heroin is for the zombie Jihadis and crazy world leaders sons to get crazy on. Saddam’s sons remember.
You can learn a lot at FR as long as you are aware of the planted stories and posts.
PTSD is a horrible thing. My last combat exposure was five years ago and I still drop whenever a sudden noise occurs; God help the Sargeant. OIF vet
Yes, thank you for that report. Something was wrong that should have been seen and cared for.
This is just too sad.
Bump for later reading.
Your truther garbage is way out of line in this thread.
Thanks for your insight on this.
I can’t describe how mad I am right now...
Do you think that the U.S. should get out of Afghanistan at this point, that all the main objectives have been reached; and now that Karzai and others are making noises to have Americans out of their country, should we leave?
It isn’t fair to tie the hands of the soldiers in so many ways, and have the Commander in Chief and his regime keep on demoralizing our soldiers. It puts them more in harm’s way than normal.
I tell you, when the Clintons were “ruling”, Hillary’s hatred of the military and Clinton’s cavalier use of the military took the cake. The cynical Obama puts the Clintons in the shade.
