Show of force: Hundreds of fighter jets paraded in South Korea as US displays its military might
Kim Jong-un, take note.
After the North Korean leader made his first visit to the tense demilitarised border and Pyongyang agreed to freeze its nuclear weapons programme, United States and Republic of Korea aircraft joined forces in this huge display of F-16 Fighting Falcons.
As these pictures from Kunsan Air Base show, hundreds of the jet fighters stretched as far as the eye could see.
Formidable: Row after row of F-16 Fighting Falcons fills the airstrip in a show of force at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea
At the ready: The display was part of a series of joint military exercises by U.S. and Republic of Korea forces
North Korea has accused the U.S. and South Korea of preparing for a northward invasion, but the allies insist the exercises are merely defensive drills.
The warplanes were part of a joint exercise earlier this month combining the 35th and 80th Fighter Squadrons from the 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan Air Base, ROK; the 421st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron from the 388th FW at Hill Air Force Base, Utah; and the 55th EFS from the 20th FW at Shaw.

If you look carefully, some of the aircraft have rockets, others have perhaps radar jamming pods or some other underwing stores. Another thing that indicates against it being photoshopped is the variation in angle and perspective.
Yep; I see the repeating pics, too.
P-40s, early B-17s, the battleships with the lattice style masts?
Just saying...
“Good” King FDR, Butcher of the 20th Century.
In the top 5 of my “Deeply Disappointing” presidents list.
If you knew anything about battleships you would know that the more modern (modern being admittedly a relative term in dealing with 20-year old battlewagons) battleships at Pearl Harbor had lattice masts, the older ones had been modernized in the Thirties with tripod masts, like the USS Arizona, and USS Oklahoma. The "newer" battleships lost their lattice masts after the war started when they were sent back to the States for repairs and upgrading.
Even worse is many really think FDR solved the great depression...
The ships were obsolete, we know now, but were not considered as such at the time. And, in fact, the P-40 and the B-17s were state of the art at the time. What was really shocking, in retrospect, is how few of the B-17s we had in inventory at the time of Pearl harbor; those destroyed on December 7th, 1941 comprised a significant portion of all of the B-17s we possessed.
Very similar to the number of F-22s we have today.
I also believe he knew. But he knew that would get him in the war no matter what and that is what he wanted. He got his wish. What, 400,000 men died on the battle fields because of him in my personal opinion. We may have got into the war sooner or later, but would not have cost us the entire Pacific Fleet to do it.
F-16 Ping.
:0)
Not photoshopped.
It’s called an elephant walk.
They were at the end of an exercise.
>>Its called an elephant walk.<<
Great — now that stupid song is going to go through my head all night!
Just for that: “Gilligan’s Island” and “The Banana Splits”
Good luck and be glad I didn’t mention “The Barney Song.”
Jet - when I was stationed at Osan in 1984 we launched 120 Phantoms in 12 minutes!
They came from Osan, Kunson, and even the PI, everything that could fly did as a show of force, and as you say it was called an Elephant Walk - the biggest since WWII, I’m sure since the Gulf War they had more impressive launches.
As always - thanks for the ping!
1. Repelling an enemy attack would have sufficed to bring us into war, so there was nothing to gain.
2. The modified JN-25 was not decoded until March. Any historian who doesn't know the difference between Purple and Black isn't fit to grade a Junior High School report.
Conspiracy fail.
Historians at Military channel said US was warned by some Allied countries that attack on Pearl Harbor was coming, at least diplomatic code was also cracked.
Do you mean the channel that runs "Unsolved Mysteries" and military documentaries that are poorly fact checked and with wrong footage?
Didn't FDR signed the Lend-Lease on March 11, 1941?
Which had what to do with Pearl Harbor?
