I watched both candidates. This was a good forum to actually view the candidates. Alabama did a great job.

Both candidates did well. Santorum started out a little slow but once he began talking about bigger issues/concepts of this election, he hit it out of the park.

Gingrich did very well, also. His presentation was shorter (there was no time limit) and more specific.

Both answered the four questions despite what other posters indicated in this thread.

What I found interesting was the contrast that this kind of forum highlighted between the two candidates. Gingrich is a quick answer, detailed idea man. Santorum is a big picture, core principle man. Gingrich seems to be more top down solution, where Santorum is more of a bottom up (from the people) solution man.

Gingrich gets you cheering when he’s blasting obama or telling you the way something should be done. Santorum speaks about larger concepts/principcles building up to his point (in this talk, it was about freedom). I haven’t heard a presidential candidate be able to talk/communicate like that in some time.

So, unlike the 99% on this thread, I thought both did well in presenting their ideas and showing their strengths. It is very unfortunate it is not a race between these two. As it is, the conservative vote will likely continue to be split, thereby giving the nominateion to Romney by default.

Just my two cents.

I’m surprised there weren’t Santorum supporters on this thread?

Because Santorum supporters never actually have anything of positive substance to say about their candidate. All I ever hear out of them is 1) He's a good family man, 2) He never cheated on his wife, 3) God told him to run. That's about it. They can't vouch for his record, experience, talent, or ideas.

“I tried gritts, learning to say ya’ll, weird things are happenin”

romney always gets into trouble when he trys to act human. the romney boys and the elites know he’ll never make it til june. keep the pressure on

“I think that this audience could have sat there for another hour for Newt.”

Two great patriots I could never get enough of seeing/hearing - Newt and Breitbart.

There’s a reason Santorum supporters don’t come on these threads......reread the comments on this thread.

Bookmark http://electad.com/ Almost every speech, interview, ad or debate from the candidates goes up there within hours. They’ve been doing this all year I think.

“Why do we fight so hard? Because we believe with all of our heart and soul that Newt is the ONLY one that can beat Obama.”

Beautiful.

The vetting of Obama is growing.....(From c-pac 2012)

Video link below gives a teaser of the big movie coming out this Summer...’2016’.... on what America will look like if Obama wins the election...it won’t be playing a pretty picture of Obama........................Produced by the same man who produced “Braveheart”.....”Schindlers List”.. and others...

..Following that is Dinesh D’ Souza, from India and Pres. of Kings College.... explaining where Obama intends to take this nation and why, from the perspective of “Anti-colonialism”.... which he explains short and brief and believes is Obamas motive and core beliefs and what drives him....it’s interesting and worth the watch if you haven’t seen it yet. 13 minutes long.

What Santorum supporters fail to realize is that the math is against their candidate even if it is a two man race. It is practically IMPOSSIBLE for Santorum to win enough delegates to clinch the nomination now.

But that's true for Newt as well. The hard reality is that it would take either a 2-man-1-fruitcake (Paul) race or one of the 3 main candidates to suddenly crater to 0 in the polls on their own in order to amass enough delegates to beat Romney + Paul's delegates at the convention. Either Santorum or Newt would benefit from winner-take-all rules in 14 of 27 upcoming contests by being able to get over 50% in some places, shutting Romney out of delegates, and by making sure Romney does not win winner-take-all contests with a small plurality in the 20s-30s. The status quo of this race is that Romney might just top 1,144 on his own by the end, or that he will definitely be able to wheel and deal enough from Ron Paul at the convention to get there. And Newt is wrong if he thinks Ron Paul's delegates will go anywhere else but Romney. We already know Ron Paul has a non-aggression pact with Romney. And even if they weren't biased to Romney, Romney would certainly be willing to negotiate away anything in his platform to win their support. So bottom line, there just isn't a plausible path for ultimately defeating Romney unless this turns into a 2-man-1-fruitcake race with a strong endorsement, or announced V.P. pick, from whoever drops out to ensure those votes go to the other guy. That move would switch defeating Romney from an almost impossible longshot into something with at least a 50/50 chance.

This Newt fan agrees with you 100%. They fight for their candidate - honorably and well.

I am on the Santorum ping list to learn. He is totally unknown here in the UK, so it is easier to learn by following the list.
Sen. Santorum has some impressive champions on here. Speaker Gingrich likewise.

Thanks so much to an 'across the pond' Freeper :)

I agree, there are many worthy warriors on this site who steadfastly defend Rick Santorum better than I could ever hope to.
Thank goodness for them.

I'm just an inept cheerleader who cheers a bit too loudly sometimes :)

Now, I prefer the Speaker. This is not the time for delicate diplomacy, we need a fighter who will not just beat down, but kick the enemy WHILE they are down. A man of vision and ideas. And I am not talking about the USA. Like it or not, the USA leads the rest of the free world.

But.

Sen. Santorum has walked the walk on social issues. I know the pain of a child dying, and can appreciate his deep and unswerving loyalty to the idea of family. The underlying basis of the West.
Without family, we are nothing. I can and will get behind him, should he get the nomination. I will never disrespect him and will work for him to the limits I am allowed to (it is hard being a foreigner sometimes!)

The Senator doesn’t excite me - but his supporters here do. People I respect, so I can go for him if my guy drops out with a clear conscience.
