Birmingham, AL - Monday, March 12, 2012 The Alabama Republican Party hosts a presidential candidate forum with Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham. AL Candidates Forum: Live at 6:30pm (ET) on C-SPAN. The Alabama Republican Primary is Tuesday, March 13. Fifty Republican delegates are at stake.
Thank you... some sure don’t. LOL
Yes, Newt was great.
My read of the audience is that the Southerners were polite to Santorum, but that THEY LOVED NEWT.
My prayers remain with Newt.
** President Newt Gingrich-”Our beloved republic deserves nothing less.”

That's right...he's the only chance we got to take out Obama....neither Santorum nor Romney have the (ah-hums)...to take on, not so much Obama as the machine that's out there operating for him.
In the debates...it's a no brainer. Newt will have it like a hot knife thru butter.....because Obama cannot think on his feet. Even those inside his administration say as much.
PPP Tweeted they’re releasing a new Pennsylvania presidential poll tomorrow.
Newt Gringrich is a slap in the face to every law abiding family in AL . . . Newt supports amnesty for illegal aliens . . . even lawbreaking ones who have stolen social security numbers and taken our jobs . . . Gingrich joined Obama by supporting healthcare mandates . . . Wall Street bailouts and Cap & Trade . . . then it QUIT . . . that must have been when I answered and yelled into the phone thats a LIE.
This is from the pious, evangelical, sweater wearing , do no wrong, Mr Perfect Santorum...... Oh my
Go Knewt!;-)
Onyx, I’m surprised there weren’t Santorum supporters on this thread? Especially since their guy was speaking.....perhaps there just arent but a very few here on FR who are actually for Santorum. It would seem so since they weren’t here. ducking like Romney did this event.
I can certainly see why unions were necessary, especially in mining and other private sector industry. I also agree that public sector unions are dangerous.
I’d love to stay up and watch it again, but daylight savings time makes 4:00 a.m. come awfully early!
But he did grow up in a Pennsylvania coal town.......he also has seven children....and he home schools
well after listening to c-span forum on "Media Spin and the Politcal Coverage" this morning I sure as heck won't be paying much attention ot polls....though of course always nice when they have your guy as the lead....but that forum was revealing of how they manipulate candidates and the voters....even to calling who one prematurely so voters will figure there's no sense in voting.
For all, who missed the live event:

It is sad that the voters have not checked his record out..I think many would be mortified.
Thanks for the link, I missed the debate. Way to early here in AZ., I hope that there is a thread that comments on the debate.
Go NEWT !
No Santorum did not grow up in a coal town....Butler Pa is where he was raised from 7yrs til he went to college in Pitt. And Butler wasn’t even remotely a coal town. I’m not far from there and know about it’s history...if anything it was years and years ago an industrial community. So Santorum “Spins” who and what he is about.....but then us Pennsylvanias know him all to well. What you see is not what he is.
It was a different time. They were needed back then. Now - not so much.
Sleep well!
just saw rassmusen on oreily, saying 80 percent think romney is going to be the nominee. this is what he leads with. who gives a shoot. he has become a total romney hack. a republican pollster hack is still a hack
I stumbled on a local TV feed of this literally seconds before it started and didn't learn it was on C-Span until Santorum was half done and plan to record the repeat. I really liked the format. One candidate comes out and gives a speech of their choice. Then three panelists came out and each asked one question, all of them good and covering important issues. The candidate answered each however he chose. At the end the emcee repeated Bill Buckley's axiom that we should vote for the most conservative candidate who could win and asked the candidate to tell why he was that person. The candidate's family in attendance were announced. They then cleared the stage and did the same with the second candidate, who had been kept in some proverbial sound proof booth until then. The 3 panel questions and the final emcee question were identical. Rick went first, Newt second. Their attire was different, their delivery was different, their content was different and their messages were different. Romney and Paul were absent. Both Rick and Newt spent relatively little time discussing the former, certainly more time discussing Obama. It was as if Paul didn't exist! For anyone truly undecided there was a lot here on which to base your choice. But don't decide based on how the audience reacted to it, what the media writes about it, nor even based on what is written here about it. Watch and decide for yourself! If you missed it live and miss the replay on C-Span I presume they'll get the video up there in time. The video's not up yet, but their page for the program is here.
...lots of applause, voices raised in agreement...listening to his every word.
His speech was awesome!
You're correct....just as they voted for Carter.....they'll be making the same mistake again if they don't wise up and LOOK at Santorum's record.
Besides that he's an amature....6 yrs as a Senator in no way prepares one for President! Hasn't Obama taught people that these guys who think they can get to Washington and fall apart.....they cannot carry the load nor move congress nor know how to BE President....Santorum needs a lot of work before he can pull that off.
