Santorum: "I'd Like Everybody To Get Out"

Rick Santorum needs about 60 percent of the remaining delegates to claim the Republican nomination. It would be an easier task, he admits, if former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich would drop out, but Santorum would not call explicitly for him to do so.

“The Speaker can stay as long as he wants,” Santorum said on NBC’s Meet the Press this morning. Instead, a Super PAC supporting Santorum has run ads calling for Gingrich to drop out of the race. (snip for excerpt purp.)

“We’re in a great position now as we go forward,” he said.

Of course, there would be an easy way for Santorum to really make up ground: “I’d like everybody to get out,” he said.

“We’re in a great position now as we go forward,” said Santorum.

Yeah, to capture the nomination for Vice-President.

There is a very strong argument that if Newt drops out, most of his votes will go to Romney instead and backfire on Santorum and his supporters. Since Romney has actual executive experience and Santorum has zero.

It may be that the rest of Newt supporters will go Romney even though they may likely not like it, but they have no other choice left.

That is an admission that you know that the way things stand, Romney is going to win it.

And he probably will to our dismay. We are chopping off our noses despite our face.

Right, he is in a “great position”! (60% capture)

And Romney will win most of the large West Coast delegates, New York, PA, NJ, etc.

Santorum is toast, and we are stuck with Romney. But you are correct, Santorum will jump at teaming up with his fellow RINO Romney and gladly accept a VP spot.

A Romney/Santorum ticket would be a sure loser.

“Santorum will jump at teaming up with his fellow RINO Romney and gladly accept a VP spot”

Yes but won’t happen because this would result in a purely northeastern ticket.

And a “Santorum/anybody” ticket would be a guaranteed loser.

I don’t think so. Santorum is not really liked, he’s just an acceptable alternative to Romney for some at the moment.

If Romney does get the nod, I expect him to pick someone who would help energize a divided base, probably an evangelical.

I think Romney would pick someone NOT for the Northeast. He’ll probably pick someone from the South or Southwest.

But I hope he doesn’t get to pick anyone, especially Santorum.

Go NEWT!

Don't look at me, I didn't create that dilemma. The Santorum fanatics made this happen.

My spidey senses tell me there be a little left-wing wacko media spinning of the incident going on here.

I am willing to bet that Santorum was simply responding to a question the talking sh*t-for-brains of a host asked him. Probably after he was aksed about Newt Gingrich's calls for him to get out of the race. Something along those lines.

And even if he did offer it up unsolicited, I doubt he yelled as the exclamation point leads us to believe.

Wrong, supporting someone with no national ability to get over 14% is what put willard in the cat bird seat.
