LARGO, FL, March 5, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Pepsi Company, which is set to release the new product Pepsi Next in the coming weeks, is facing a more robust boycott as pro-life activists protest the company use of cells derived from an aborted fetus in flavor-enhancing research. But Pepsi has succeeded, with help from the Obama Administration, in keeping its controversial operations from consideration by its shareholders.
In a decision delivered Feb 28th, President Obamas Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) ruled that PepsiCos use of cells derived from aborted fetal remains in their research and development agreement with Senomyx to produce flavor enhancers falls under ordinary business operations.
The letter signed by Attorney Brian Pitko of the SEC Office of Chief Counsel was sent in response to a 36-page document submitted by PepsiCo attorneys in January, 2012. In that filing, PepsiCo pleaded with the SEC to reject the Shareholders Resolution filed in October 2011 that the company adopt a corporate policy that recognizes human rights and employs ethical standards which do not involve using the remains of aborted human beings in both private and collaborative research and development agreements.

PepsiCo lead attorney George A. Schieren noted that the resolution should be excluded because it deals with matters related to the companys ordinary business operations and that certain tasks are so fundamental to run a company on a day-to-day basis that they could not be subject to stockholder oversight.
Debi Vinnedge, Executive Director of Children of God for Life, the organization that exposed the PepsiCo-Senomyx collaboration last year was “appalled by the apathy and insensitivity” of both PepsiCo executives and the Obama administration.
Were not talking about what kind of pencils PepsiCo wants to use we are talking about exploiting the remains of an aborted child for profit, she said. Using human embryonic kidney (HEK-293) to produce flavor enhancers for their beverages is a far cry from routine operations!
PepsiCo also requested the resolution be excluded because it probed too deeply into matters of a complex nature upon which shareholders cannot make an informed judgment.
In other words, PepsiCo thinks its stockholders are too stupid to understand what they are doing with the remains of aborted children, Vinnedge stated. Well they are about to find out just how smart the public really is when they turn up the heat on the world-wide boycott!
Oklahoma Senator Ralph Shortey has proposed a bill SB1418 banning the sale of products that are developed with or contain aborted fetal remains. In the case of Pepsi products, the cells derived from the aborted fetus do not end up in the final product.
We commend the Senator for his courageous move, noted Vinnedge. The public is already saying no thanks to all Pepsi beverages and Pepsi Next is just that the next product to avoid!
To date, the world-wide boycott has expanded to include Canada, Germany, Poland, UK, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand.

"When and where is Yum! Brands next shareholders meeting?May 17, 2012, at Yum! Brands Restaurant Support Center in Louisville, Kentucky."
There goes my Diet Mt. Dew. I don’t care if it’s in the final product or not, that’s just disgusting.
Socialism is the ideology that we can (and must) live at the expense of others. Making products from the cells of aborted babies is the ultimate outrage of socialism: it is literally living at the expense of others.
“If you take that approach, every little league ball diamond that has a Pepsi sign on the outfield wall gets added to the boycott list, right?”
Nope,, not a boycott,,it’s more like this. if the little league only sells pepsi at the refreshment stand. I look down at that pepsi in the glass,,and think about stem cell research, dead babies, etc. And then suddenly,, im not so thirsty anymore. It’s like that.
Id rather them have pretend it’s the 1930s, host a focus group,, and ask them. “how does this new formulation taste to you?”
Soylent Cola
Ohhhhh i see. Theres no aborted cells in the flavor enhancers. They just use stem cells from line number HEK293 to test new flavor enhancers on. Well that changes EVERTHING!
Was pepsi in the 1940s really so bad? Does it really need flavor enhancers tested on stem cell receptors? No matter how you slice it,,,it’s not appetizing to think of scientists doing Frankenstein experiments to make my brain think pepsi tastes better.
weird weird weird,,,
Sorry, you are WRONG! There is NO Legitimate use for aborted baby parts. NONE! I don't care how OLD they are. There are no moral reasons for abortion. Let's not create any.
Yes but Pepsi must have received its approval! http://www.icpem.org/2008/Fluke.jpg
At the Donner party, all they serve is pepsi!
From: http://hek293.com/
“The source of the cells was a healthy, aborted fetus. The name HEK293 is thusly named because it was Frank Graham’s 293rd experiment.”
People see the issue as to whether they want to be supporting the Mengele approach to research.
Here, take a drink of this Pepsi. It only has a small amount of aborted fetus in it.
In a national taste test..... aborted fetuses prefer Pepsi!
News Flash! Pepsico has acquired Planned Parenthood.
“Pepsi Next” the new drink to die for.
“Pepsi Next” an unusual new flavor you can't quite put your “finger” on.
“Pepsi Next” a new “CHOICE” for women.
Here at Pepsi, there is absolutely NOTHING we won't do, to bring you a new flavor.
Support women's reproductive rights, drink “Pepsi Next”.
“Pepsi Next”, breakfast of abortionists.
Just like Pizza Hut, you won't find Coca Cola at Planned Parenthood. We offer only Pepsi products.
-——Pepsi is funding the research and development, and paying royalties to Senomyx, which uses HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney cells) to produce flavor enhancers for Pepsi beverages.
Using isolated human taste receptors we created proprietary taste receptor-based assay systems that provide a biochemical or electronic readout when a flavor ingredient interacts with the receptor, says the Senomyx website.-——
Just ordinary business.
God help us!
oh c’mon, how many times will we have similar misleading threads here?
They do their testing in HEK-293 cells, a cell line (cells transformed or immortalized so that they can keep growing and dividing in culture) derived from probably a stillborn fetus. This is NOT similar to using dead baby parts in Pepsi.
FWIW, do we even know what cell line(s) Coca Cola uses?

What a twisted horror!!! Sickening!
Nothing like aborting the next “Pepsi Generation.” B-) B-P Just an ironic humor break.
